Chicagoland - Looking for Summer Deals

web specials, coupons, cheaper rates?

Been taking advantage of the springtime deals and played some new courses but with Summertime fast approaching rates are going up. Wondering if there are some suggestions for decent courses that are kept in good condition in the Chicagoland area with some good rates, I'm talking $35-$45 a round with a cart or obviously cheaper than that if walking.

Somewhat new to the area and can't afford the $80 a round at a lot of places. Thanks for the point in the right direction!

I'm a budget golfer in Chicago as well...quite a few last minute deals can be found on Golfnow.com. As a single I can get on some decent places for $30 with a cart on a weekend afternoon.

Other than that, most places require a resident card of some sort. I have been playing a ton of golf at the Schaumburg Golf Club with a corporate discount since I work in Schaumburg. $10 for 9 and $20 for 18 to walk a course they charge $70 for on weekends.

You might want to specify 'the area' a little bit. 'Chicagoland' is by some definitions 10 million people and 10,000 square miles. It's doubtful you'd want to drive from Lake County ( either one! ) to Kendall County for an afternoon round.

sorry, I live on the North side of the city, willing to drive up to 45 minutes each way. Definitely looking for weekend deals as well, unfortunately don't get to play during the week.

Check out Shephards Crook for a great early bird rate. Still cheap without. Also, if you want to head south, great deals at Odyssey, Mistwood, Glenwoodie for EB specials.

white pines in bensenville has 2 18 hole courses and their twilight rate is awsome for how well they maintain the course. they keep the course in tip top shape almost PGA like.

I've been hearing this a lot lately, I'm going to have to get out there...

Funny story, my dad's car died once in that area and he had to coast into their parking lot. I had to drive from the Naperville area and pick him up and then bring him back there the next day. I've never even played there and will always have memories of that place

White Pines is alright...if you get the twilight rate it's a deal. I just can't stop playing at Schaumburg Golf Club. Everytime I go somewhere else, I feel like my money would have been better spent at Schaumburg.

I played Tamarack on a deal from golfnow.com, I was less than impressed. The course was in disrepair.

I knew about the white pines twilight deal, probably going to check that out sometime soon.

I also have used golfnow.com and played last weekend at Midlane resort for $45 on a Saturday morning, thought it was a good price. Course is a fun layout and in decent condition. The first time playing it was a little tricky as some water hazards and good dog legs that I didn't know the distances to the edges. I would definately go play there again as pace of play was good once we got past the first few holes.

This is a pretty common trend around here right now. I feel like I am seeing quite a few courses in pretty bad shape for this time of year.

The Village Links in Glen Ellyn is looking good though...compared to others. It's a nice course, I enjoy playing it. Not the hardest ever but not the easiest. Different place to play, that's all.

Village Links is probably one of the toughest courses out there. Of course, that all depends from what tees you play. And it also depends at what speed the greens are running. If they even get near 9 or 10 on the stimpmeter, you're in for a long day. The 5th and 18th are Mickey Mouse holes with ridiculously placed fairways/water hazards but overall value for money this is a 9/10 course. Then again, it is my home course so I may be somewhat biased.

George Dunne on the south side is great value too.

Home course, really? Mine too! I live RIGHT by Arrowhead now but still drive over to the Village Links after work to play or practice. Grew up in Glen Ellyn and I guess I just have it in my blood.

I know it is a walking rate but I have found there is no better bargain than Pine Meadow at twilight. A $90 course that goes to $45 to walk at twilight - 3pm right now...4pm in summer. I have played there a bunch at this time and have rarely had difficulty finishing. Just my 2 cents but for the quality of course it is a bargain.

Also have to give it up for Schaumburg, usually in great condition and the greens are tough!

yep, Schaumburg GC has been my "home" if I dont have anything planned. The greens use to be much better a few years back but I hear that the greenskeeper was let go a couple of years ago. The greens are still good but now they can be a little inconsistent from week to week. If you have a resident card its dirt cheap for what you get. And btw the cart girls are really friendly and pretty hot which doesnt hurt.
