What tiger is playing maybe and probably is the fubuki tour as sakman has posted. However, I know for sure that Phil is playing a FUBUKI PROTO. My buddy has big time connections with MRC because he sells their shafts and knows the higher ups. He's asked them what Phil plays and is going to ask them what Tiger plays next time he talks to them. Think about it. The shaft Phil plays is 59 grams. MRC does not make the fubuki tour 59 grams. It's a proto with the the old fubuki graphics on it.

Just got off the phone with a lil bird at Mitsu. Phil is [b]also[/b] playing the Fubuki Tour however, in a 73x...

Maybe Brandon Joe @CallawayGolf who builds all Phil's clubs will chime in as well.

I disagree, a lighter shaft will not react the same way as a heavier one, especially with tour swings. A heavier shaft must be controlled and does not accentuate swing flaws as much as a lighter shaft.

<br><br>Exactly. The heavier weights usually come with a lil lower torque rating and to ME feel more stable for lack of a better word. It especially doesnt hurt to play heavy weights when you play your driver a bit shorter. <br><br>On a related note did anyone see that pic posted of Tiger with the Fubuki? DUDE! There was WHITE showing below the grip. I havent seen a Fubuki tipped that much before. I dont know if thats a practice round trial or the one he is gaming but he really had it tipped to the limit.

first, MRC does make the Fubuki tour in 59 gm. look on the website, a 53x is 59gms. second, i too have spoken to someone at MRC and was told 73x. i also saw his driver close up a few months ago and it said 73x. FWIW

No it's not the fubuki tour. Don't be mislead by the graphics. I talked to my buddy who's been on tour before and is in with some of the players. Tiger and Phil are both playing a fubuki prototype with the old fubuki graphics on it.

I think you guys yelling for Butch and distance are WAAY off. (I hate Tiger by the way), but he just shows up to the Masters rusty as a tin can and is in contention. He has been working on a swing change, it isnt ironed out, but the light is near. He will be just fine without butch.

I think, but not 100% certain, that he meant we have unrealistic expectations for TW and when he does play bad people act like the world is coming to an end or we all become Monday Quarterbacks and know exactly what the problem is and how he can fix them.

OK.. My statement was made based on his history. I haven't been watching the tournament the last few days because of work. Then maybe learning about his divorce, etc., has an affect. Personally I was really surprised he showed up.

I agree. This is one of the worst rounds he's ever played in his pro career I dare say, and while his swing may not be there, I'd be willing to bet that it's partly a mental issue.

I'm a HUGE Tiger fan and could care less what shaft is in his driver, I'm just happy that we are discussing something golf related with him. It's a shame that there are some people who feel that they haven't had time to take personal jabs at Tiger. Anyway, as you can see it's not easy to score if you can't get off the tee. I hope he figures it out over the weekend and into next week at Isleworth or Sawgrass using whatever shaft in his DRIVER!

It's pretty obvious what he needs to do, take a shorter backswing, stop swinging so wildly trying to knock the top layer off the ball and perhaps get a shaft that actually works for him. Why has he gone with the Fubuki this week in his driver when it's painfully obviously he hits it like crap with that shaft. Until he sorts out his driving he'll continue to slip and slide...

Let's be honest here... to say that this is beyond embarassing or disgraceful is simply you just stating that you don't like him without saying so. Every pro out on tour struggles at one point or another keeping the ball on the fairway. He has missed FIVE cuts as a pro, disgraceful or embarassing that he doesn't have it in his second event back from a life altering event..............................

Seems to me I read he had one of his best weeks for driving stats (distance and fairways hit) at this year's Masters using the Graphite Design Tour AD DI. Might be time to go back to that shaft/driver head combination.

Not sure I would agree with ditching Hank cuz [b]it's the Indian not the arrow[/b] comment. Hank was still his teacher at Augusta and the driver swing was working there. My guess is they didn't rework his swing for Quail Hollow so the lone common factor seems to me to be the driver/shaft. At least I'd go back to see if it was! Easy enough to check out and prove if it was the driver /shaft, or not.
