So i got these yesterday from golftown, super pumped to wear them, but ended up picking up the wrong size so didn't use them yesterday during my round (thank god as it was SUPER SOGGY AND MUDDY at Westwood Plateau after the monsoon like night/morning we had yesterday. Anyhow got the right size and wore them for practise last night, then ALL DAY today during work/practise and my round (work in the pro shop, so figured what a great place to wear them in standing inside all day).

First of all I want to say for any people who check into this thread, these are awesome shoes, played 9 last night and 27 today, NO problem whatsoever with slipping, the grip is great on these, and walking around inside is still great, they feel like my normal adidas runners only a lot more comfortable. Wore them literally all day today (from 630 this morning until 8 tonight) and my feet, knees and lower back feel 10x better than my normal shoes from standing in the pro shop on tiled floors all day.

Unfortunately I encountered two problems towards the end of the day when I gave them a look over after work and my rounds. Firstly when I was getting a few pebbles out of my shoe I noticed the rear part of the insole stained my socks green (I have the white/green pair)... Not a huge deal as long as it just happens once or twice and then are worn in, but I had a pair of oakleys a couple years ago that ALWAYS did it to socks and I had to get rid of them cuz I didn't want all my socks to be stained. Secondly, the part along the side started peeling...? As in my pictured, those grey parts in the white are obviously supposed to be all white and it is not some type of weird design :P. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

I really hope this is maybe one pair that is a slight problem, as I really loved these shoes today. I'll wear them a bit more and if these two things persist I'll try another pair, and if there is more of the same afterwards I'll be dismayed at having to pass on these... At least I do have a pair of Tour 360 4.0's on the way as well ;) (have to have a classy looking pair of golf shoes to wear too, can't always be casual).

Weird !!!!!

I just picked up 2 pairs from Golftown yesterday (black/red and white/green) and haven't taken them on grass yet but it does seem from your picture like a manufacturing defect of some sort

or possibly they came in contact with a strong chemical/fertilizer on the golf course ??????

I would email Ecco with your picture and see what they say - of course Golftown from my experience will take care of you and replace them

Hmm, that is a thought, I know our greens keeper used a fertilizer on the greens just over a week ago to get them going, but I don't think that'd be enough to do this to my shoes through one day...

I think I will email ECCO and see what they have to say, and either way, golftown offers incredible customer service and wouldn't hesitate to give me a new pair for either of these problems I've had, hopefully it won't go past where it's at now though and I won't have to worry about it! :)

Let us know how you enjoy yours Joe, where abouts you play?

So far I really like these shoes comfort wise right out of the box - I wouldn't mind getting the dark navy blue pair when they become widely available

From what I have read though - the insoles will bleed their color onto any pair of socks - no problem for Freddie as he doesn't wear socks with these shoes

http://www.thewalkinggolfer.com/ecco-golf-street-premier-review.html

" I must note, however, that the yellow insole color of my Streets bled onto my socks so I now have several pairs of white socks with yellow soles. This is one of my pet peeves. An insole should not ruin an expensive pair of golf socks, ever. "

anyways will be taking a pair of these when I travel to Ireland next month - I might not wear them if rain is threatening but I love links golf and the fact these type of courses drain so well - I have only seen one small puddle on any links and that was at Waterville after a few days of cold and heavy rain - I wish I could play this course everyday

I'd say take 'em back to GT and get another pair in the same colour. If it happens again, then clearly it's a defect in the way they apply that colour to the shoe. Then you can maybe look at a different colour, or a different shoe altogether (however disappointing that may be).

As a former GT employee I know they will take care of you. I didn't work on the soft goods side, so I'm not sure what Ecco's policy with GT is, but for most shoe manufacturers they just replace the pair on the spot and then they deal with the manufacturer after the fact.

All that aside, I'm a little disappointed with Ecco on these shoes, simply because their size range is reduced with this model. Normally they offer up to a size 47 (US Size 14) but they only go to 46 on this one :(

Two comments....Ecco stands behind their products very well from my experience and it sounds like Golftown does as well, so you shouldn't have any problem having them replaced.

Second issue, I'm in the same boat about size. My Fiance was going to surprise me with a pair for my birthday and she called several stores then Ecco customer service and found out they only go to 46. I have 47 in all my other Ecco's (5 pair) however, I was tempted to try and squeeze into a 46 but I guess that would defeat the comfortableness of them :)

I really want a pair of these, but it seems a little steep $$$ wise. Also, wearing black socks will keep you from seeing stains...

I have black and red and have been wearing them since February and haven't noticed the staining as I always wear black socks. I wear them for work and play. They are more cormfotable tham golf shoes for sure and I would say give about 85% of the grip of real golf shoes. Not as good in the rain. I have about 15 rounds on them.

Done for year selling it all.

As an experienced Ecco buyer these are comparably cheap, usually Ecco's run $180 to over $200. I won't get on my rant that I did about a year ago, when I thought it was funny that we don't think anything of dropping $400 on a driver that we will use at most a dozen times a round, but want to get cheap when it comes to a piece of equipment that you use on every shot and and every step of your round. Just trying to put it in perspective :)

I hear you man, Im a big time golf shoe(and club) hoe. Ive got 11 pairs in rotation right now. Looking at them on ebay, they are getting 200 bucks for them! One thing Im curious about, how do you think the spikes will hold up? Do you think the shoes will be worn out before the spikes go? Ive got a pair of Puma golf cats with similar tread on them, but those were only 35 haha.

Wow!! 11 pair, I'm a minor leaguer compared to you. That's a great question about how the tread holds up, if I could get them in my size I'd sure give them a go to see. Can't be any worse than the rubber/plastic cleats I got through at least 2 or 3 pairs a year on each shoe.

That is pretty high on EBAY I wonder if it's because they are so hard to find. I see them in the ECCO store here in Maryland for $148.

I walk alot and wear through my spikes pretty fast, especially covering some of the AZ desert terrain, but if the spikes wear out, I can replace them, not have to buy a new pair of shoes all together.

And my 11 pairs, well, thats what working 3rd shift at a job with internet access and nothing to do but kill time will get you. I'd scour the listings for cheap shoes and pull the trigger on auctions that ended at like 2 AM or something. Here's what I got off ebay:

Puma Golf Cat $35 new
Puma C-Hopper $35 new
Puma Swing GTX $45 new
Puma PG Breeze $45 new
Adidas Tour LTD $80 new
Nike SP-8 $65 new

I also took advantage of golf galaxys sales and got some adidas tour 360 3.0"s for $50 and another pair of powerbands for $40

Lol I'll never pay retail again!

You mean ZERO selection, 14 would be a 50 in Euro isn't it? I'm a 13/48 and was told they only make them up to a 46

The pumas definately run smaller than the adidas, and they are narrower, too. I can get away with wearing a 10 in adidas, but the pumas are pretty snug at 10.5. I could easily wear an 11 in the pumas.

The golf cats and the c-hoppers are a bit more roomy, fitting more like a pair of running shoes or skate shoes, and the swing gtx fit the smallest f the bunch. I hope that helps! You can usually find older models on ebay for cheap(like I did) and try a pair out. If they dont fit, Im sure you could sell em here and at least break even.

How do the Puma Cell Fusions run in size compared to Adidas 360 4.0? I have a 10M in the 4.0. But I wear 11 in Puma sneakers.

  • 10 months later...

I'll tell ya one thing, the INSOLES of these shoes are ridiculous and completely unacceptable, they are by FAR the most ridiculous piece of garbage(TRASH) I have ever seen.
Are you kidding me?
What a piece of crap, I mean we are talking $150 for a pair of SNEAKERS, and these scumbags have the balls to give us insoles that are worth less than 10 cents?
Bah, I will NEVER buy another pair of over rated GARBAGE that is the Ecco brand, and I will most definitely steer everyone I know away from these schysters...........bah, that is so pathetic it;s beyond comprehension.

Noone mentions this, am I mistaken here with this, it's so pathetic I wanna punch the owner in the face.......bah, NEVER AGAIN will I give losers with a great rep my cash.....
