Angel's Crossing--Trouble?

Someone from another message board I frequent is passing through there, and all along planned to play(it's a group of guys). He said he heard something about them having trouble keeping their doors open, and that the city of Kalamzoo had bought them out. He's wanting to know if conditions have been affected to the point they should maybe look at another course in that general area. It's kind of a big deal trip, and they don't want to be disappointed in a course, particularly when there are the kinds of options Michigan offers.

Angels Crossing is open, is more funded than ever and is in good hands. True ... the 1st set(s) of owners quickly fell to the wayside, about 2yrs each for 3 different folks. Ironically, the course itself never actually suffered. I've played there 4-5 times per year since it's been open, including at least 3 times last fall and it's always been fantastic condition wise.

The course was purchased by the City of Vicksburg MI (the town it's actually located in). It is now a "muni". They quickly plucked a teaching pro from the Kalamazoo Municipal Golf courses to be the head pro who has already tripled the membership from previous years, built a much needed 1/2 way house for beverages, food at the turn, etc. A clubhouse has been planned, parking lot is being moved, etc.

Only time will tell, each new course owner has big plans but this is the 1st time Angels has had a Head Pro who actually incorporates general public events promoting the course. Events, 1-day tournaments, Demo days at the range, on and on. All things that Angels has never done previously.

This is interesting to hear. I go on vacation to a lake in Three Rivers every year and I was playing some course nearby and a guy I got paired with told me about Angel's Crossing. This had to be close to five years ago now. I am going this year and I was planning on playing there. Glad to hear it's still a good option.

Does anyone have any other good quality BEAUTIFUL courses around that Three Rivers/Kalamazoo area?
