New Ping Line Up for Ping fans

I did stop by the shop Monday and saw the new stuff. Originally I hadn't intended to but the rep. was late and was still there. What I learned is the Rapture is no more and is replaced by the super game improvement K-15 stuff which looks every bit the game improvement category. But this is priced much lower than the premium Rapture line was ($299 for the driver for example). He had three S56 irons. He had one Anser 6 iron which looked very much like an i15 with a ferrule and chrome plating at address. Those will be very limited in how many they offer in the U.S.. The cost on these might be in the $1300-$1500 range but that is only a guess. The S Tour Wedges were the best looking pieces of everything he had. He didn't know anything about the materials the wedges would be made of or even if they were different between the chrome and antique finish. He wasn't as well informed as many reps. are. The S56s and S Tour Wedges have similar looking cavities and a glued in weight/vibration adjustment insert like previous models (just different cosmetics). He did say much of the product would start showing up in September, so about the same as in the past. He may have had some information on putters but I had to leave by then, so if anyone saw the putter line up any information would be helpful. I hit a few balls with the wedges and S56s and they were pretty nice.. The wedges do look like a sure buy for me. I had hit the i15s and Ansers a few weeks ago in Japan so didn't repeat that which I thought felt and performed pretty similar at the time (a harder feeling than I expected in the Ansers however).. I had no interest in the K-15 stuff so didn't hit it (possibly it may be available before the other offerings). No pictures were allowed. I think they must be trying for the Adams market with the K15 hybrid included market.

Interesting that the new line is coming to market several months early!
Perhaps I'll wait to see the K15 driver before I jump on the G15. I guess the Anser line will be the new premium offering....with driver etc.?

i am kinda shocked to see them go away from the rapture line. I guess its time to spice things up. Im looking forward to the S56 irons bc the previous s57 are on my list of best irons out. Ping makes very classic clubs and they are trying to grab that game improvement section of the market.

I thought that there was a new putter coming out too. My wife's company has been working with them, but she won't tell me what they are doing with PING.However if I hear something I will add it to the post.

i really don't understand the K15. Is the G15 not forgiving enough? It's already the most forgiving driver i've ever hit. The rapture line made sense (forgiveness= G15, low spin low launch = I15, Low spin high launch= rapture.)

i don't get it.

i hope the wedges are nice, the pics looked good. was hoping to make those my first conforming set

Seems odd to me that Ping might vary the offset in those Anser forged. Too bad PW = 45*.

If these new Ping Tour S Wedges are better than the current Ping wedges that are out than I want 5 of each loft! Their current wedges are absolutely amazing! I had always been a Cleveland guy, but the Ping wedges right now are awesome!

The new K-Series sounds to me like they are creating a line to compete with the Callaway Warbird series. Cheap "Super Game Improvement" clubs are all the rage these days unfortunately.

I like the news on the S56s. The new cavity style on the wedges look good.

Per GolfWeek there's a putter they've made that looks like a cup with a flat face. Really big putter.

Calc. wants to bag it but they won't release it to any of their staff yet.

Anyone with more info?

Actually, the retail price will be higher than that. This is a tiny niche product for them and they are producing it accordingly. They're not trying to compete with any other forging brand, just trying to appeal to the Ping nut that recognizes the historic significance of them finally producing another forged set. And remember the Callaway protos sold surprisingly well at $1500.

There is no way that the Ping Anser Forged will retail anywhere near $1500. That would be way over priced! I saw a set today that I member recieved from a friend in Japan (released there in April) so I will upload some pics tomorrow.

I said more than the prviously mentioned $1299.99 and used the X Protos as an example at $1500, I didn't say they would be $1500, just more than $1299.
