Probably smart rather than having 9 lofts and 2 or 3 bounces with each loft. Leave that for the 17-9 regular and TS chrome wedges.
Agreed. I fully expected the Rustique options would be limited, as they also limited the loft and bounce options in the Black Nickel finish Tour-W wedges. Ordered a set of the Rustiques this afternoon at Golf Galaxy.

Mizuno JPX-900 | Fujikura Speeder EVO II 661
Adams Super Hybrid XTD 17*
Mizuno JPX-900 Hybrid 21*
Taylormade P790 (5-Gap)
Callaway MD3 (58, 54)
Taylormade Spider Tour

I spoke with Ping today. Took a while to find someone that knew much about the new Eye2 XG wedges but the person said these were the same design as the original just with updated grooves and finish. Same bounce, sole design, offest and loft (57.7 on the SW and 61 on the LW). "X" stands for 10 or 2010 and "G" stands for grooves.

Bob, did you get a chance to see these in the address position? Curious by your opinion that these had less offset.

Of course, the Eye2 LW always had much less offset than the SW and the rest of the set.

No I didn't see them and to my knowledge few have seen them. They sound like they were the surprise intro at the sales meeting. I was hoping they would be less offset as I was looking at my old set the other day and that is just tooooo much offset compared to other offerings today.

I just pulled the trigger. PING s56 2-PW with KBS Tour shafts in Extra stiff flex, hard -stepped one time. PING has the new id-8 grip. Is it decent?

I am a big PING fan but I must say I am worried about the company. I have no idea since it is a private company what their financials look like but in this economy I hate to see them come out with so many new high priced products.

The s56, anser, and i15 irons will compete for the same high skilled player. the G15 and K15 will compete for the high handicapper. They now have 4 different fariway woods, hybrids and drivers. G15, I15, K15, and Faith. Tour s wedges and eye2 wedges. more putters than anyone can ever use. Looks like a lot of stuff setting on golf store shelves. they even have 3 or 4 carry bags. They will also have a lot of s57 irons they will have to discount to get ride of that will make the new players irons harder to sell.

TIme will tell but they need to focus on what they do best and not try to flood the market with products few will ever buy.

I agree to an extent, Hitman (Bret Hart). But PING makes an overwhelming majority of their stuff to order. They have very little "on-shelf" merchandise compared to other OEM's. PING makes nearly everything they put out only after it is ordered, an dthen it is built to specs (custom).

i said it when i first saw the info, i don't understand the K15 line at all. Didn't then, don't now. The rapture woods at least had the high launch low spin angle. The K15 just seems like a G15 rehash, even though the G15's are still out and winning all kinds of accolades. Maybe make the titanium faced irons but why an extra wood line? Don't get it

love the Eye 2 comeback though!!!!!

I like mine. Kind of in between velvet and cord.

thanks for the reply. I hate the velvet grips. Cord grips are ok. I llike the PING 703 grip but wanted to give this new grip a try first.

I too don't get the loft options on this. I was pumped when I read about the re-launch of this wedge, but not so sure in the loft combo. Weren't the originals 53 degrees for the SW and 57 or 58 for the L wedge?

I am with people above on the K15 line. Confused.

And having it look very similar to the G15s which by all accounts have been a big success I dont understand.

They seem to occupy the same consumer space as each other, look alike and being aimed at the less skilled/newer golfer I wonder if the consumer is just going to opt for the cheaper G15. And yes I know that Tour players have used the G15s. I am thinking of the average guy wandering in the pro shop.

With every release Ping get less and less like the products I would want to buy which is a shame as I am a lifelong Ping player. I hate all the busy plastic Iron Man stuff in the back of the irons and each release seems much of a muchness.

Either back to the old stuff or a change to Titleist next time for me.

That Aint Billy Bob!!

Good Point anser3 but I must say I just came back form Dicks sporting goods and saw dozens of Rapture V1 drivers with blue board shafts on sale for 149 bucks. This in my opinion was their best driver with tons of tour support and there are about three or four staffers that still have the original rapture in their bags. This is much more appealing to me than the new stuff. Lets face it, they are all pretty much the same driver just with different colors. Dicks also had the Rapture V1 hybrids which again is probably the best hybrid they made for $89. Looks like a lot of non-custom stuff to me

FWIW, I still play Eye 2 BeCu wedges with my G15 irons. The PW is 50.7 deg and makes a perfect gap wedge for the set (shows how much lofts have changed).

Anyway, I do not find the yardages too close even though the lofts indicate they would. I hit the SW 100 yards same as I hit every other 56 deg. Cleveland or Vokey I have ever owned. And I hit the LW 80 yards.

They are still the best wedges I have ever used out of sand and rough. The sole grind works perfect for my swing. With the hot weather in the northeast this year, I have experienced all kinds of different lies, from thick rough to hard pan, lots of wet, thin lies. These wedges work in all conditions.

I'd like to see an 'at address' picture of the old eye2+ lob wedge, or the new xg lob wedge. I dont remember it having the massive offset that the rest of the set had, so i have pre ordered an xg without actually seeing one in the flesh as i used to really like the wedge when i was a kid.
Dont know why i got rid of my original really, other than the stupid club ho of youthfullness that i suppose we all go through. Older and wiser now......

A majority of their non-custom stuff available would be woods, hybrids, and putters (things that move quicker than full iron sets). PING has very few full iron sets in retail (compared to taylormade, callaway, et al). I do agree the Rapture (original) is the best. I am still bagging one as well as a TISI TEC 3 wood. Are you sure the original Raptures you saw had a blue board shaft? The BB was not a standard option until the V2 came out. The VS Proto was a standard option (I have one in X - stiff) in the original Rapture.

K 15 irons look like the G15s to be honest...
Exactly what I felt as well!! When I look K15 iron at the updated Ping website, I keep asking myself how they let K15 be the replacement of the RatptureV2?

K15 is more like a G15 with a Ti face insert. The K15 sole is missing the tungsten weight. That's one step behind the technology bits of RaptureV2.

Am I right? Or Ping has figured something that will make K15 iron better without the tungsten sole weight?

Absolutely positive it is a blue board. Dicks also had some V1 drivers with the ugly green V2 standard shaft for $149. The BB is a great shaft but all of my woods have Aldila shafts which I really like. The VS proto was standard on the V1 and if these had the VS shafts I would have bought an extra. Also the Rapture V1 hybrid had the Javln shaft which is also a standard in the V2. I would guess they had some spare heads and used shaftsthat were in stock to get rid of inventory. Also saw on Golfsmith were they had some V1 hybrids that had the G10 orange shaft. I think they just have some stuff to get ride of.

I think their philosophy with the S56s was not to totally overhaul a relatively successful iron. Pretty popular on the tour and colleges. So why sink a ton of money into something that is a very limited volume for them anyway. Don't forget the Ansers were designed for the Japanese market not really intended for the U.S. initially. Those also will be a very limited market just due to the price---since you can get a club that performs just as well and feels better in the i15 for less money (personal opinion from owning a set). The G15s remain their large volume seller and I'm assuming they are hoping the same thing will happen with the K15s although to a lesser extent compared to the G15s.

Perfect! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Now the next question - what are the respective bounces?
