Yeah, takeaway looks good. I think if you'll avoid bowing your wrist at the top and try to get it flat instead it'll help get the club on plane at the top, but you're really only slightly laid off.

Yeah, looks fine. You're Dustin Johnson'ing it at the top (he sorta does something like that, though not quite as pronounced I think).

hingge the club justttt a little bit sooner in the backswing and it will look like you want it to.

Your position @ the top stems from your arm run-off... Look how much your arms lift after your shoulders stop turning... A little lift is alright when you begin your move I feel, but yours is excessive... What u think Ace?
Agreed, too much in then lift up, probably need a tad more straight out connected shoulder turn and up in the takeaway then more in and I still think its laid off myself a bit, not as bad as before though.

I do bow my wrist at the top like Dustin Johnson, except he somehow gets his club nicely on plane, mine still is laid off a tad but I think some of that is caused by the bowing of the wrist.

I agree with the bowing helping cause the laid off move. But I think DJ bows even more but isnt laid off. I also agree with the fix, Ive tried to feel cupped, I just end up slicing it off the planet, Maybe I just have to stick with it and I'll adjust for the square club instead of a closed one.

Looks good. Your right hand seems to be really strong yet really hinged right before impact (frame 350). That doesn't seem natural and almost have to flip and rotate those forearms really fast. It's like a shut face hold off on the downswing with a quick roll near impact and a super shut face right after impact. Does your right wrist ever get sore?

Your biggest problem imo. Your leg work. You really get on your right heel and straighten your right leg on the backswing. On the downswing the right knee pushes towards the ball way too much causing your heel to lift up way too early for an iron swing and your hips stop rotating near impact. You're soo close though. Just keep that right knee flexed by keeping the weight off your right heel and use the ground to clear those hips naturally.

Just my 2 cents, but it doesn't look like you have enough wrist hinge (upward movement) in your backswing. You seem to keep your wrists pretty rigid throughout your backswing which doesn't allow for much hinging (downward movement) in your downswing. At impact, do you make solid contact (divots on front side of ball) or struggle with fat/thin shots (divots behind the ball)?

You might want to take a look at this video by Steven Bann ...

Yeah I know, I was really rolling the club laid off more before, in this video Im feeling steeper and trying hinge it up more and stay connected. Its a little better. If I miss its always thin but I think thats because I early extend some which I think was cause I was laid off and compenstaing for an ott move.

I think your backswing is pretty good. I think you really need to focus on finding a way to bring it down on a shallower plane, although it does look shallower than last time.
Exactly, I was very laid off before so that forces steep, Steeper back = shallower down which is what Im trying to feel.

I think my shoulder turn is still too flat 42 degrees with a 8 iron? No?

I figured out another issue today, more so then my swing plane or whatever. I knew my alignment was off so on the course today I decided wtf and started using my alignment stick on it. I know its illegal but Im just practicing anywyas. But what I found out today was that my shoulders were pretty far open to my foot line so before I even take the club back Im already stuck some, not good right? No. So on the course I would line up say 20 yards right of target with my feet but my shoulder would be 10 yards right, now try and hit a good shot from that position? Good luck. I start lining up correctly and what do you know I start hitting good shots again. :fool:

I could get you to across the line or on plane if you listen to these steps. This setup/drill/whatever you want to call it will really fix all of the major problems you have been mentioning. This will work!! So don't make this a waste of my time and do what I tell you. Good players have hard heads.

1. Get two alignment poles.
2. Get in your setup. Place one of the poles on the ground such that it points at the ball and your target from behind the ball. Place the other one such that it touches the heel (back of your foot) of your left foot. The other end of the pole should touch the toes/toe line of your right foot. These alignment poles should intersect, or you can just imagine them intersecting. THIS WILL BE YOUR GUIDE ON HOW TO TAKE THE CLUB BACK.
3. For the first part of the drill/swing, take the club back along the first pole I spoke of. In other words, take it straight back.
4. HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART. When the club is aligned with the pole that runs from your left heel through the front of your right foot, hinge your wrists such that the club hinges along the exact line of the pole.
5. The rest of the drill is turning your shoulders to complete the backswing. Then hit the ball.

This cures lift, laid off, steep, and a little bit of your club face problem.

If you need me to explain the drill more clearly just let me know.

+1.

Also, you can do the drill where you:
setup to an alignment stick with the sole touching it as if you were setting up to a ball. the stick should be parallel to your target line and your feet line.

then pick up the club and hold it in the middle of the shaft. from your eyes, the clubhead should be over the line while still maintaining your original posture.

take the "half club" back with the clubhead along the line, then hinge your wrists at your normal time and make sure that the butt of the club is always pointing at the target line. it will feel really upright. lemme know if this isnt clear

I got it, thanks. I'll give it a whirl. I also had/have a shoulder and foot alignment problem, closed feet to the target but open shoulders. Fixing that helped a ton, I was basically setting up to hit a slice. :black eye:

Your laid off at the top for sure but it's not excessive which is good. You have a bowed wrist as well but it's not a problem if you compensate it on the downswing. I have slightly bowed wrist at the top as well less so than you do but I correct it coming down. If you look at david duval and ben hogan, they have bowed wrists but were some of the best ball strikers in their prime. Paul Azinger had an extremely bowed wrist and he wasn't half bad himself. Your impact position looks pretty good which is the most important thing.
