What's up with the Classifieds?

Is anybody else getting tired of reading BST ads that are littered with 3rd party commentary about rules violations, Paypal issues, asking prices, etc.? I try to skim down to the bottom of threads to see about items that have been sold, price drops, etc., and it takes several minutes on an increasing number of threads to wade through all the nonsense. See below if you don't know what I'm talking about...

It should be noted that none of the responders are Marshalls, Moderators or the like.

 

I used to NEVER see this and almost NEVER see threads about deals gone bad...I now seem to see it on a daily basis. I know there have also been major BST rules changes in the last month as well.

 

Has there been a big spike in the membership or have tough financial times brought out the worst in people or what? The Classifieds used to be a "safer" and what most believed to be a better alternative to ebay...it seems like things are going in the wrong direction.

No. There was just less enforcement of the rules. Now that there is a zero tolerance policy, everyone is crying foul because their ad gets 409'd.

Personally, I think that anyone that posts a "why did my ad get deleted" post and is then shown what rule they violated deserves a 30 day suspension from the BST. The rules are there for a reason, and it's not that hard to follow them.

Believe it or not people seem to have a real problem reading the rules. I dont know why.

The zero tolerance policy makes it a lot easier on the mods to clean up a lot of the clutter.

Actually, the first deal was resolved quite admirably. As for the second one, who knows. Nothing is guaranteed 100% safe when buying on an internet site. I think the BST deals that have gone bad has dropped in the last few weeks based on feedback ratings.

Well, I hope you guys are right. I love this site and have had nothing but good deals (both as a buyer and seller). I guess I'm just concerned it becomes more trouble than its worth, and they do away with the BST altogether.

I'm a fan of our new member-policed BST. The rules are CLEARLY stated and people still insist on posting ads that don't conform to those rules. I do agree that the commentary should be kept to a minimum and if someone has already pointed out a rules violation, noone else needs to add their 2 cents to the situation (unless the comments are being posted at the same time).

a complete lack of respect and decorum to
lowball an item in the BST thread
