Under $50 wood shafts from Golfsmith

Better than stock?

I'm looking for some new shafts to replace some stocks in my bag. Would these cheap ones from UST or Aldila be a good shaft, or at least better than stock options? I was looking at the ones online from Golfsmith. Obviously they wouldn't be as good as the $350 shafts you can get, but I can't afford that. Opinions?

UST Proforce V2, Prolaunch Red are close to $50 and are great shafts. Aldila and Graphite Design have ebay stores were you can get some great shafts for really cheap as well.

You need to check out the Aldila store on ebay:

They have great buys (especially the pink shafts if you're man enough). Aldila NV shafts are great and spending $350 isn't necessary for a premium shaft. Besides the high dollar shafts of today will eventually be bargains tomorrow.

I'm a big fan of the V2 as well, very solid and plenty of pop in everything I try it in...also my favorite hybrid shaft so far.


That said, I picked up a 65g/75g Prolaunch Platinums on Ebay for $30/ea. I just installed them in a MX700 driver, and TEE CB1 3wd. Hit them for the first time tonight. They're right on true to flex in my opinion, very solid feeling. The 65g brought ball flight down from the stock Exsar and felt very solid. It seemed to bring spin down, in fact a few times it looked like the ball may have stalled as if it had too low spin...I'll have to get this on a monitor. Plenty of feel.

The 75g in the CB1 is awesome, much better then the stock aldila NV in my opinion. Much less dispersion, higher launch, roughly the same spin from what I could see, better feel for me as well.

If I were you I would take a hard look at Robin Aurthers Excalibur shafts. As good as the $200 shafts out there.

Harrison Saga can be had new for about $65

I got my UST Axiv Blue for $60 at golfsmith too and its a great shaft so far

Agreed V2 is an awesome shaft and it's a bargain at that price. But don't knock stock shafts because some drivers do come with great stock shafts.
