Golf Shops in NOVA

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, I'm getting sick of Golf Galaxy in Fairfax, and Golfdom in Tyson's doesn't do anything for me. Are there any smaller local shops (other than the one in Sully Plaza) that could do some simple things like regrip clubs and put clubs together for me.

I'd really like to support some of the smaller places around.

Is Bill's in Vienna still open?

+1 for Annandale Golf. They do great work there and are extremely knowledgeable. If you want to do a full fitting then Mike Fix of High Launch Golf will come in and do the fitting for you.

I second Manassas Golf. Kevin is the the guy who runs it and is a really good guy. They do all the stuff, grips, bending, fitting. Smaller shop but really a good one. It is in portsmouth station in manassas next to partyco

I know this is an older post, but I thought I'd share my experience.

I have had 2 things done at Annandale golf. The first time, I had my 3 wedges regripped by a middle-aged asian guy, who seemed pretty knowledgeable and he did a great job, but regripping is pretty simple.

Now that I was happy with their service, I thought I'd have them put together a driver for me....terrible idea. When I brought the stuff in, a younger kid (maybe 18) said he could put the club together no problem. I told him I wanted it to play 46" and didn't care about the swingweight too much, but if I could get it reasonable, that would be great. So I come back a few hours later when he said it'd be done and what I saw was shocking. First off, he used WAYYYY too much epoxy and it hadn't even come close to drying (more on this later). Second, the club felt very heavy and seemed very long, but I had nothing to measure it against, so I was praying it was ok. Third, the grip seemed really really fat, but it said standard, so I wasn't sure what was going on. At this point, I was mad, but I'm not confrontational so I paid 20 bucks, which including the charge for a butt extender (gave me more doubts), and I left.

As soon as I got home, my brother (has 2 years club repair experience) and I looked at it and immediately looked for a place to fix it. We also stood it up against my 48" (USGA) long drive club and it was longer. We then went to Golfdom. The first thing the guy at Golfdom did was laugh at it. Before pulling the head, he measured it and it was longer than the board they had too. He then preceded to simply pull the head off without any struggle. After pulling the head, he got the grip off, where we found the next suprise. To backweight the club, the original guy put an entire roll of lead tape under the grip, in addition to masking tape, making the grip so think and the club so heavy. Thankfully, Golfdom got it all taken care of and he only charged me 15 dollars because he felt bad for what I had gone through. I have since taken other clubs there. Overall, I wouldn't trust Annandale golf unless it is the older gentleman and you have a good talk with him before hand. Rant over!

I know who you're talking about. The middle aged man is the 18 year old kids dad and used to play on the tour I believe. I'm friends with the kid and he doesn't know anything about golf, I think his dad just hooked him up. I don't think he works there anymore though.

Yeah, the middle aged man regripped my clubs, and he seemed to know what he was doing, so if he was the only one doing repairs, I'd probably go back, but I was so mad when I got the driver back that I haven't gone back. As of December/January, the kid was still working there.

I'm still trying to find a place that I trust, but golfdom is ok. I need to get my irons reshafted, but I'm waiting until I can find someone competent enough to do it.
