The Fort - Prairie View - The Purgatory

Which is the best?

It depends what you want. They are all considered nice courses. Purgatory is links style with >130 bunkers. Super tough from the tips. The Fort meanders through the forest. Prairie View is in the suburbs near homes. I've always liked the Fort personally.

I played Prairie View and Purgatory and would agree with JohnnyV. It all depends on what you're looking for both of these were in great shape when I played them. Purgatory is a cool layout with a lot of bunkers and tough for the the tips! Unfortunately The Fort was closed when i was in Indy.....maybe you should play all 3!

I've played the Fort and Purgatory, and I would recommend the Fort of those two. I live in the Chicago area and every time I'm in Indy I try to play the Fort. It is a terrific golf course, and very affordable by Chicago standards. Purgatory is a great course, too, but I like Pete Dye courses.

Purgatory for challenge and links style golf.

The Fort for scenic and traditional wooded trek.

Both courses will offer memorable moments.

Prairie View is a very nice, well kept course. Just not as much to fawn over as Purgatory or The Fort.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Played twice at Purgatory and once at The Fort. Prairie View didnt fit in the time schedule.

Really liked the Fort a lot. Purgatory was long with all the wet weather we had.

I would play the Fort over Purgatory. Have not played PV, but it is the most $$$ of the 3. If you have time, play Ironwood prior to 7am for $25. well worth it. Also, Bearslide is awesome.

I made a pass through Indy this past week and played The Fort again. The course is in good shape, not it's usual outstanding, but still a great course. I turned at 1 over but the back nine wanted some revenge and I finished with a 79.

It is an excellent rolling wooded course and certainly one of Indy's must plays.

If you have to eliminate one of those, I would eliminate Prairie View and keep The Fort and Purgatory. Prairie View, while a fine course, isn't nearly as good of a value as the other two.

the fort is incredible. purgatory is great, too. prairieview is really nice, but too expensive.

I would add Trophy Club as another to play, The Fort is the best in town to me.

All are excellent in their own way. I prefer Purgatory.

The fort is great, Trophy Club is my favorite, Purgatory, I like the Brickyard a lot, and Heartland Crossing.
