3 wood - what plays like the R7 TP

I love my R7 TP (titanium face) - I carry the one with ALE (alternate leading edge).

 

What newer Fairway Woods play like the R7 TP? (perhaps with better distance and technology?). I tried the R9 3 wood and did not like it.

same! but my r7 tp woods are really good. havent hit the r9s but they [b]look[/b] similar

The best 3 wood I ever had was a tour issue vsteel, I sold it years ago--needed the cash.
I have the r9 fw, including a tour issue. And the r7 tp including a tour issue.
I picked up a diablo tour 15 with a wb 83x. THIS will be my 3 wood. It felt like the old vsteel--solid, and a penetrating trajectory.

I moved from the r7 tp (which WAS great) to the r9 tp and haven't looked back....if I did it would be a long way back as the r9 are silly long, more forgiving and have a better sole thru the turf...but the r9 in my hands is just sweeter..demo one you'll like is my guess if you liked the r7.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to order the 13* and either the 17* or the 19* in the R9TP.

I had a tour issue R7 13* that was OK, I love my 17.5* R7 though and wouldn't trade it for anything. I now have a tour issue R9 13* that is definitely longer and higher launching. The R9 fairways seem to launch higher than the R7 across the board for me, that is why I am keeping the R7 5 wood. The R9 head itself is very neutral biased and you can change the face angle which is great. The Tour R7 I had was a little fade biased for me.

all, thanks for the replies...

I tried the R9 Fairway, and aside from the look (a bit more triangle-lish than the R7 TP), the muted sound ("click" vs "ting" on the Titanium face) did not suit me well.

How about distance? Anyone else found the R9 longer than R7 TP ??

I see this thread resurface from time to time and my response is the same. The R7 TP Ti 3 wood is the best I have ever played. The ho in me wants to try so many other options, but I know I have the best that is available for me. Best thing is I still have the original Vista Pro shaft in it..

I have an R9 15* and just picked up a VSteel with a Taylormade Graphic Blueboard 83. To be honest, they seem like the exact club without the FCT on the V-Steel.

I am thinking I would like to try and sell or trade the R9 15 head for a 07 Burner TP 3 Wood or Superfast 3 Wood....it would be nice to try a different type. I really haven't been able to find one to match the G5 13* with an NV 75....shouldn't have sold it...I've been looking to find a 3 Wood since.

the r9 is silly long for me thus far
first round with one today and i hit one 260-270 off the deck according to my gps
i only hit my drives 280-295 in comparison so this totally shocked me

I currently game the r7 TP in a 17.5*, got it new for $70 and couldn't pass up the deal.

I have a brand new in wrapper r9 TP in 17* laying around, and I'm not going to remove it from the package until the r7 acts up. I've never seen a higher launcing and easier to hit 3-wood as the r7 TP is. Mine is also cut down to 41.25 inches, and is still silly long.
