MN, North Metro instructors?

Looking for a good instructor in the Blaine/East Bethel area.

Any suggestions? I'm in the Blaine/East Bethel area. I could go to my local club pro but we don't have a driving range and on course instruction isn't always best. I'd also like to work with a pro who uses video. I use video quite a bit myself and really enjoy the feedback that it provides. Currently contemplating using one of the instructors at The Refuge but would like some feedback from somebody/anybody first. Thanks!

It is a little further away, but Aaron Jacobson at Rush Creek is very, very good.

Update on this one. I wanted somebody local so I took a chance on Kevin Williams at Majestic Oaks. I met with him for the first time this morning and it went pretty well. He identified a few things in my swing and setup that did help in our session this morning. I'm going to work on them to get a better feel for the changes (mainly to get comfortable with them) and meet with him again some time next week. My first impression is that he knows what he's doing and will turn out to be a pretty good instructor. Since I'm looking for somebody to work with long term, that's a very good thing.

John Green is in Woodbury also. Named as one of the top 5 instructors by the PGA in Illinois a number of years ago.

Do you know where he's located? Things are working out very well with Kevin thus far but it never hurts to get a second opinion. I'm certainty not locked in to any one instructor at this point.

I've worked with Kevin Williams, following him from Greenhaven to Majestic Oaks. He is a genuinely good guy and I've enjoyed the learning process. I've shaved a few strokes off of my handicap and certainly improved my swing's efficiency (gained one club). I was amazed at how bad my swing was on video when I first met him.

I've drifted recently into Monte Scheinblum's gradual release theory but would highly recommend Kevin Williams to anybody!

I actually have taken over Kevin William's old spot at Greenhaven.

It gets confusing... :lol:

I have heard many great things about Kevin Wiliams and his teaching ability. If you guys hit it off, and it sounds like you have, stick with him. He CAN help you with your game! Tell him hi from the older but newer Kevin... :drinks:

Nice to get some feedback on Kevin Williams. Thus far I've only had 2 lessons with him but it's going very well. As I stated before, I wanted somebody local that I could work with long term. We haven't spent anytime working with video but have made a few minor tweaks that have had a pretty major affect on my ballflight (in a positive way). At this point, I think that I'm going to start working with Kevin to develop a long term plan based on my goals. I think that (even after only 2 lessons) I'm at the point that I wanted to be at right now. I know where I want to be this time next year so that's my focus. Kevin, thanks for your input on Kevin W. If things don't workout, I'll be sure to look you up.

Good luck to you Rebby, I know you guys will be a great team... If you and Kevin ever want to sneak away from his course for a playing lesson, you are both more than welcome at Greenhaven. It would be fun to meet you!

How about mid/south metro ideas? I know Mike Barge was rated #1 this year and he's out of Chaska town course while Hazeltine is under construction. Seems like he might be a little serious/straight cut for me from what (admittedly) little I know about him.

Ideas?
