OT What do You think of the name Percy?

OK I am trying to come up with a name for a boy. MY wife, and I are expecting another child in Dec. I would like to name a boy after my Uncle Percy. What do you think of the name??? I know this is way off topic, but thanks for your help.

you might want to think twice about that only because it sounds very close to the slang term for the part of the female anatomy that starts with a p. you can be assured he will be called that.

I have a Boston Terrier named Percy. He fits his name perfectly. He is a very proud distinguished animal (in his own mind) and is too good for sleeping on the floor or eating dog food. I even have to walk him to go to the bathroom. He won't go in his own yard.

but anyways Kascopro i think its up to you to make this choice if the name sounds good to you then go with it but if i were you i would name him Louis but then again im not you

Zach Larry or Larry Zach would be ok.......Zach Jr would be most fitting.......As far as your uncle Percy is concerned, you could use this as his middle name which would be most fitting.

 

The best to you and your wife Zach, congratulations!...........Name him whatever you and your wife desire, be sure and ask your daughter what she thinks about a name too. :crazy:

My wife and I are expecting our first in November, so I understand what you're going through. Ours will be a girl and if she looks anything like her mother, she'll never have to worry about making friends. Of course, if she's built like me she'll have some problems, but she'll be able to defend herself.

 

It seems lately that non-traditional names are the rage these days and Percy would fit right into that mold in my opinion. That said, I'd never question a name that someone chooses for their child. At the same time, I do wonder how mean kids will be to others with "funny" names. From what I've seen, lot's of people are opting for what would have been considered "funny" when I was a kid. Since there seem to be so many, Percy may fit right in with your childs peer-group once he hits the age where it actually matters.

 

On a sidenote, you got to find out the sex very early. We didn't find out until 10 days ago and are due at the beginning of Nov.

My wife and I thought along those lines. We had 3-4 names that we liked, but we waited until we saw the baby to pick one. Coincidentally (or not), we both chose the same one.

interesting name....only percy i have ever heard of is percy byshe shelley....did percy (the uncle) have a middle name that you may want to use instead.....percy just doesnt seem to be this generation....

 

on another note maybe hell be such a good golfer hell earn a nickname and half of the world will never know his real name....lol.

My kids are huge Thomas the tank engine fans, so when I hear the name Pearcy the first thing I think of is one of the trains named Pearcy... He is a good little tank engine....

John is a solid hetero name. LOL

 

Naming your kids for other family members is tough. It usually offends someone you didn't choose. Percy works as middle name.

 

Choosing your kids names seems really tough but in the end the choice becomes clear. The name will fit, give it time.

there was a Percy Alliss, Peter's dad.

 

i have to be honest, the name doesn't seem right in this generation. i'm not saying it's a bad name, rather, it's just not in the 21st century. i think it would be great as a middle name, though. try choosing a name that will sound good for ALL of his life. for example, i have always thought that the name Josh would sound a bit silly when your middle-aged.
