Maybe. Although a lot of the women would get chewed out because of the length (7250y).

225y par 3s, 500y par 4s and 600y par 5s....They'd be lucky to be hitting 50% of their GIR.

So what you are saying is Deer Run may be more difficult then Oakmont under current conditions for a short hitter.

Have to say that I disagree. Those girls are deadly with their hybrids. Obviously they wouldn't be 20+ under but 225 par 3's are reachable for them and even lots of the men are going to be laying up on 600 yard par 5's.

The course set up at the John Deere this week vs the Womens US Open at Oakmont. Would the women leading the US Open be under par if they were playing the mens tour set-up at Deere Run or is Oakmont at 6600 yards in those conditions easier than the mens 7200 yard set-up at this weeks PGA tour stop.

TPC isn't being played at length until maybe Sunday

That may be, but over time, the odds will catch up to you. Just look at how Annika did at Colonial in 2003...

They must have changed Deere Run.........I remember being fairly happy after shooting 78 there.... :D

People have no idea how good those guys really are!

As tour courses go, TPC Deere Run is very, very easy. Fairway bunkers aren't in play, greens are relatively flat, few holes have any bunkers in front of the green and greenside chipping areas are very accommodating. When a course is so far from major suburban areas, it must be designed for excitement--lots and lots of birdies. Deere Run fits that need

Well pardon me for being such a fool.

Having only played this game for 43 years, raised a two time state champion, D-1 player, and PGA professional...I appreciate you bringing me up to date on the game.

I'm, happy to set you straight. :welcomeani:

If I'm so wrong, then explain the low scores by multiple guys who hardly ever go that low.

Alright fellas alright. Deere Run is a tough course for mere mortals. But PGA Tour pro's shred it. And yes, they are exceptionally good. However for them, that track doesn't hold up. And that's due to a combination of them being sickeningly good, and the course not being extremely taxing.
[/quote]

It's not a difficult course for mere mortals, and that has been told to me by a number of guys who carry handicaps of 5-7 and have no problem being 4-5 over par. It's like the course used years ago for the GMO, prior to Brown Deer

I also think that TPC Deere Run is RELATIVELY easy. I play there 3-4 times a year and usually score 3-4 under my handicap. However, my home course is very tough and plays harder than it's slope and course rating so my handicap is falsely elevated! (good for scrambles and BB tourneys).

Night Train - maybe TPC DR just doesn't fit your eye.

The difference is 600 yards which works out on average to 34 yards a whole or two to three club difference. So instead of wedge it's 7 iron or 3 wood instead of 4 iron on the longer par fours. Dodnt forget that Anika at Colonial on Thursday hit 13 of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens. Those are pretty good stats no matter what your gender.

My father played in the Pro-Am at the John Deere Classic a few years ago, and I was his caddy. Because he only played from the men's tees and not the championship tees, I didn't get to see what the course looked like from the tips on all of the holes, but from what I saw it wasn't the world's toughest course. I don't think I'd play any worse there than I would at my home course, and I can definitely say I've played courses that were more difficult.

My old man plays to about a 25 hcp, and he played quite well that day. The best was when he pulled off a net 1 on a par 4. As soon as our scorekeeper input that into the system, the head scoring tent radioed back, essentially saying "are you f--king kidding me?". I was quite proud of him on that hole. Bangs a drive right down the pipe and sticks his approach to about 3 feet and drains the putt. Even our pro (Steve Flesch) was like "who is this guy"? :clapping:
