Irons? Easy. Project X. I'd sooner play Seve's tree branch-shafted 3 iron than anything with a Project X in it.

i didnt realize the Proj X shafts were hated so much. werent they really popular just a year or two ago? what happened to them since then?

Woods - Aldilia NV or Motore F1... don't know which i hated more
Irons - don't really have one.. clearly i need to try the PX and join the hate train... i get the feeling these are very polarizing shafts. CS Lite would be what i'd have to put out there for shafts i've hit.

I think most would say since they went to the chrome finish they are not the same as the satin.

When TM brought the Burner driver back, the 2007 version I think, the stock shaft was horrible. I have forgotten what they called it, but it was really pitiful. Even in the stiff flex it was just a whimpy, whippy piece of junk.
Luckily, I've always had pretty decent steel shafts, so I have no complaints in that area.

I am in the same boat.

Hate the True Temper DG and I really dislike the UST Pro Force stuff.

I really like the VS proto, Voodoo, and RIP feel. PX flighted loads wonderful for me and feel great.

I don't currently use any of these now though.

Yeah, I pretty much feel the same way. The NV is a good shaft, for me. Not my favorite, but they work well for me. As for PX, I love my PX's. I like them better than DG's or KBS, which I've played.

I love this shaft too! I bomb it. I think its one of the smoothest shafts going and very underated.

Worst graphite shaft - Penley Stealth : somehow managed to feel both boardy and loose at the same time. I too used to hate the NV shafts but found they're pretty decent if they're tipped a little extra.

Worst shaft I've tried lately that you can still buy has to be the Grafalloy prolaunch platinum - horrible shaft that plays at least one full flex softer than stated.

I haven't tried enough to chime in but this is very enlightening and revealing. I always thought the NV and the Project X's were good shafts. I guess marketing works. I also have the Prolaunch Blue and made myself believe that it was good in my driver but now I have to reconsider as I also think it hits like a board.

Prolaunch red in x is the worst for me. I can't believe all the hate for the NV. I've got one in my gamer and its the best out of several other higher end shafts for me, to each his own I guess.

I'm curious and surprised that so many don't like the NV. I thought it was fine, but just too easy to overswing it's range. I love the ProtoPype. It kicks like a mule and always brings the head to the dance on time. I've never swung any shaft that I thought felt terrible-just had bad timing.

Cool thread! It's amazing to see the difference in opinions on feel. I'm probably going against the grain here, but I happen to love the feel of a Grafalloy Blue/PX graphite and PX 6.5's/X100's as well.

The project X folks stopped spiking the WRX kool-aid, or the thrill of the new purchase wore off and people realized that they've spent $$$ re-shafting their irons 2 flexes above what they should be playing and therefore really haven't seen much improvement so they need to find a reason to try a new flavor of the month fix


The NV is another interesting WRX phenomenon, because it doesn't have the $300 price tag of a its got to be a piece of junk. I would bet any amount of money if Aldila re-painted a bunch of NV's jet black with a skull and crossbones on them and priced them at $400 people here would be ALL over them as the latest "spin killing monster of a shaft"(did I mention they'd be "tour only")

Although in defense of the WRX community, the "made for" NV variants didn't do anything to help people's opinion of the shaft.(Imagine forming an opinion of MRC if your only data point is the Diamana Yellowboard found in Nike SQ's). Not to mention the 65g version of the NV plays completely different from the 75 and 85g versions, AND furthermore the NV(and NVS) need to be tipped .75 to 1.5" MORE then Aldila says to get any kind of consistent results.



As for my least favorite feel shafts I'd have to go way against the grain and say that the Fubuki was absolutely HORRID, I wasn't a huge fan of the V2 Hybrid either

A lot of graphite shafts haven't been named but I think it's interesting how Nippon seems to be the only iron shaft that hasn't been named.
