i didnt realize the Proj X shafts were hated so much. werent they really popular just a year or two ago? what happened to them since then?

The project X folks stopped spiking the WRX kool-aid, or the thrill of the new purchase wore off and people realized that they've spent $$$ re-shafting their irons 2 flexes above what they should be playing and therefore really haven't seen much improvement so they need to find a reason to try a new flavor of the month fix black eye.gif

The NV is another interesting WRX phenomenon, because it doesn't have the $300 price tag of a its got to be a piece of junk. I would bet any amount of money if Aldila re-painted a bunch of NV's jet black with a skull and crossbones on them and priced them at $400 people here would be ALL over them as the latest "spin killing monster of a shaft"(did I mention they'd be "tour only")

thats what i was thinking too

The NV was the worst shaft ever. Always felt way too soft for the flex.

Mitsubishi Javln. Calling it "boardy" is an insult to planks everywhere.

Woods: Anything with "Grafalloy" on it
Irons: PX

The answers in this thread should be cross-referenced with the swing styles of the people who answer. That way, it could give some good information.
Here's my attempt: medium speed, long backswing, deliberate smooth transition, early release.
Best shafts for me are TT DG, DG Lite or DG SL in irons (or Ping Z-z65, for that matter) and V2 (66g) and Blueboard (63g) in woods.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Although in defense of the WRX community, the "made for" NV variants didn't do anything to help people's opinion of the shaft.(Imagine forming an opinion of MRC if your only data point is the Diamana Yellowboard found in Nike SQ's). Not to mention the 65g version of the NV plays completely different from the 75 and 85g versions, AND furthermore the NV(and NVS) need to be tipped .75 to 1.5" MORE then Aldila says to get any kind of consistent results.

As for my least favorite feel shafts I'd have to go way against the grain and say that the Fubuki was absolutely HORRID, I wasn't a huge fan of the V2 Hybrid either

NV is a great shaft and I agree with you statement - they'd sell for certain.

The worst for me was the Nippon 1150 GH. Not sure why but I hated those.

I'm also going to buck the trend here and say that I absolutely love PX. But I love boardy shafts. I use PX in everything except my hybrids, and those are 904HB, another shaft that's commonly called boardy. I guess that's why you can never trust anyone else's opinion on how something feels as we all interpret things differently.

+1 I'd probably still have my MacGregor MT Pro-M set if I had ordered them with DGs instead of the Nippon 1150 GH. I gave 'em to my brother, just kept the PW cause I like chipping with it.

I liked the PX 6.0 I tried in some Callaway X-Forged irons, and I love the ProForce V2-guess I also like "boardy" shafts.

Prolaunch red in x is the worst for me. I can't believe all the hate for the NV. I've got one in my gamer and its the best out of several other higher end shafts for me, to each his own I guess.

NV is a great shaft for a golfer with a moderate swing speed.

A little off topic, but I pulled the factory shaft in my Ping G10 and put a NV in @ factory length and SW went from C9 to D7; which is what I prefer in a driver.

To the OP I think the worst driver shaft I ever played was Diamana Blueboard.

Please keep in mind that I prefer tip heavy shafts that still retain good feel. IMO the BB failed both of my requirements.

CS-lite is worthless for irons.
