Could be a casio GShock. He tweeted that he bought it at Walmart.
Now I like him even more.

I'd like to think that if money was no object, I would not blow it on a Rolex or some other $10K "timepiece."

But I might tip my hardworking, favorite waitress that much, just to make her day.

Go Bubba!

Certainly a compelling story of what he is going through. It amazes me he can play a lick with that homemade swing. His iron shots look like he belongs in the SKIL lumberjack competition. Just blasted one about 6 feet into the bunker edge with another chop swing (and too little loft club). I truly thought he would never win a tournament but everything fell into place a few weeks ago. He will be lucky to win 10 tournaments in his career.

Darn, did you see is press conferece! Poor guy has been going through a lot. Very emotional. I find it impossible not to root for the guy after such an honest display of humanity.

You might want to youtube some of this video clips.
There are some clips of him cussing out other pga professional golfers and using very foul language when it's not necessary.
The word on tour is that he's one of the most disliked guys.

the guy plays a different shot (low draw, low fade, big high hook, or his famous SUPER draw) for each shot on the front nine, he pretty much takes it as a joke haha. how can't you love this guy?

I think that he showed his true colors in his interview when he said all he cares about was getting his Ryder Cup points. First off, nobody is buying it and secondly, that shows total disrespect for the tournament. A major even.
So you would put a major infront of playing for your own country? We all know he ins't a hall of famer. He makes enough money and gets a ton of sponsers already. Winning a major is huge and changes your life, but so i playing for your own country.

If only he'd undo that top button.... that'd relieve a lot of pressure and stop him looking so dorkish to boot.
Yeah...saw the press conf. Pulling for him.

The top shirt button...drives me crazy.
You guys must be young (if so, good for you). That's an old school look that screams professionalism and and seemingly deep respect for the game....not "dorky" at all, but you have your opinions.
thaaaaaaat's stretching it quite a bit.

i'm all for a clean, professional look. but i'd rather Bubba be out there in jacket, tie and knickers than button up a shirt that's pretty clearly not meant to be worn that way, IMO. i mean, do you seriously think Goydos looks "professional?" guy looks pretty sloppy compared to most. just saying. it's not an all-consuming indicator by any means.

I like the fact that he seems to be trying to open up and all, but he does not have that great of a reputation for treating the fans or others very well.

I am not including Elkington in this, because he is the same way.

There was a thread somewhere after the Elkington incident. Although I don't have any first hand knowledge, there were many that chimed in and were not very complimentary of his atitude and demeanor.

I don't mind an athlete that has some rough patches with fans or other athletes. That's life. That's real.

Listen, I've been to a lot of tour stops and the PGA tour seems to draw a lot of idiots to spectate. I guess it is actually because 90% of all fans are so well behaved, that the one idiot always manages to get the spotlight.

What I'm saying is that if I had to deal with these fans on a weekly basis, I'd probably get after one every once and a while.

As for the Ryder Cup comment, the way I took it was that he was saying his goal coming into the week was to make the Ryder Cup and he accomplished that so he wasn't going to hang his head.

I am in no way upset or offended by his comment regarding the Ryder Cup. I think it actually shows humilty: he realized he was in an elite field, he's certainly still trying to find his 'niche', he's dealing with a boat load of personal issues and might have very well written himself off. Try placing yourself in his shoes... his dad has cancer, wife has cancer scare... not the best frame of mind. He wanted to play in the Ryder Cup, and he damn near won the thing. Probably got a lot more than he planned or hoped for.

Winning a Major is awesome, but I think that making the team was his bigger goal.

A bag of left-handed junk.

I would. Golf is an individual sport and one will be remembered much longer for winning even one major than making one, or even a couple of Ryder Cups.

And I don't really buy into the whole playing for your country thing. When the Olympics come around, that might change, but I just don't see the Ryder Cup that way. I understand that I am in the minority there, and I love the Ryder Cup. I just don't see it the same as others.

I think in any given year people are more likely to be able to identify the 4 major winners vs an entire Ryder Cup team. IMO winning a major is far more important than participating on a Ryder Cup team. I'm willing to bet there are plenty of players willing to trade their Ryder Cup participation for one major victory - Monty perhaps? I doubt that you'd find many major winners who have not participated in the Ryder Cup willing to go the other way.

Yes. And winning a major usually leads to a Ryder Cup anyway.

Agreed with these posts.
Ryder Cup to players seems more about the camaradery with the other teammates than playing for your country which seems like lip service. Much like playing for the fans. No, they're not. They're playing for themselves, their families, history, money, etc.
