Why would you purchase that if you can use something that costs 25 cents? I think it's called a quarter. Plus if you lose a quarter it's no biggy.

If a ball marker on the green distracts you you probably have other issues...

That said, I want a couple. And I WILL mark my ball with it. Just to distract people in my group. Asking me to move it when you and I both know it isn't in your line just lets me know it's working.

If poker chips are for poker then quarters are for shopping.

<br>+1, FINALLY HeadOnSticks says something I can agree with. Personally it wouldnt bother me unless I actually had to roll OVER it to get the ball in the hole. I dont even mind ppl standing around the hole when I putt as long as they stand still. You can even talk while Im teeing off, just dont STOP talking. Keep it consistent...

As long as you don't mind moving it, I'm ok with you using it. Just accept the fact that people are going to ask more than they would with, lets say, a mark that wasn't the size of a manhole cover.

True story: Caddy in the group last week gets asked to run up and slap a mark on some guys ball on the green because he's over getting a beer or something. Caddy slaps a poker chip down, ball was maybe 6-8 inches from the hole. Other guy chips up from like 5 yards off, tracking the hole way. It hits the poker chip and actually stops dead. Doesn't get deflected off, or hop, but stops dead. These were high single digit/low teens handicappers who were just playing a friendly match, but still, it was hysterical when nobody realized the caddy had put down a poker chip instead of a standard mark and cost them the hole.

I use a silver liberty half dollar, but I would never use a poker chip. It's not about the diameter, but the thickness.

I really don't care if someone uses a sewer lid to mark their ball; probably means they're blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. It's just another subtle step in redefining golf. Can't imagine how many people on this board use a Hammer... chippers, want rules changed, bump the ball, and use huge putters with geometric alignment aids and targeting instruments to figure out where to hit the ball... fits with iron head covers and tournament bags for mid-hi indexes.

Don't really care about the whole "poker chips are distracting argument" but I will say I really like the magnetic hat clip markers best. I tend to lose things out of my pockets and haven't, knocking on wood, lost one of those hat clip markers yet.
