Would South Korea be competitive if they had a Solheim cup squad? Looking at the Rolex rankings, S. Korea has 12 players in the top 30, USA has 12 players in the Top 70 and Europe has 12 ranked in the top 100. If rankings were meaningful, it would seem South Korea could dominate a Solheim cup Country vs Country type of match. Since they appear to be the dominant womens golf power, maybe they should consider starting a Samsung or Hyundai Cup...

Golf itself has a ton of history/heritage and therefore winning a team competition at the professional level against the U.S. would mean A LOT to them.

It's only a matter of time before this gets done. However, the idea will have less meaning in the U.S. so look for this deal to be agreed to by the U.S. strictly for money and by Korea for money, glory, and a chance to show their domination. It's just the kind of thing that may jump start the talent pool in the U.S.

Are you serious? As a Korean American, I can assure you that if there was ever a Korea vs US Solheim Cup, S. Korea would come out in the thousands and start there national chants. S. Koreans are extremely prideful, and anything that takes place on a national stage, S. Koreans would be out there in a heart beat. It doesn't matter what it is, or what there playing.

I was going to say the same thing. Growing up with a Korean mother taught me that Koreans are very competitive and prideful (to a fault). You put up a national South Korea squad and South Korea would expect that their team would compete and win (regardless of the opponent or sport).

A better match-up might be S. Korea vs. the World. Sort of like the Presidents Cup except the Koreans are the Americans, if that makes sense.
