The $1.00 Wedge swing Drill- improve your short game at home

Ok,

Thought I would share my latest efforts to improve my wedge game....which also seems like it needs work! This will sound funny at first...but it actually works very well and has improved my feel and touch with the clubs I used to call my evil clubs!

 

Whether it was boredom or innovation I'm not sure.....but one nite I was in my living room practicing my swing (with an old 58* wedge- so not to hit the ceiling)....when I spotted a penny on the carpet....so I though I'll pretend that the penny is the ball and hit a 'baby touch lob'....and sure enough I lobbed it up about 4 ft in the air. Well one thing lead to another and pretty soon I had about dollars worth of change and 3 targets (1 box and 2 baskets....since my kitchen sink is just across from my LR I use this as my 25ft high lob-LOL!) and proceeded to hit all kind of different short game shots trying to land them in the targets- 1) it was fun and helped me work on technique and feel of the shot 2) it works well indoors without too many casualties 3) it has translated quite well to the course- my up and downs have improved by about 50% (likely by just using this as extra time to practice)....

 

I will say pennies, and dimes work the best for airborn shots...as you improve nickles and quarters work to but take a bit more precision to execute.... ******proceed at your own risk and skill level****

My wife picked up 12 golf wiffle balls from Daiso for $1.50 for me which works pretty well for my indoor practices.

A bucket full of whiffle balls in the bedroom, concepts from Lefty's "hinge and hold" and Confessions of a Former Flipper --- hit the bucket every night and believe it or not I have a dependable short game for the first time in my life. Ya gotta love it.
Don't think my wife would go for the coins though.

Yes- I only do this on carpet! and the 'hinge and hold method' is a promotes solid strikes- be it lobs, low checkers..etc..

I like the whiffle balls too....but the coins are a bit harder to do correctly and promotes a cleaner technique ....Wife? no she hasn't tried it yet...

I would love to try this. But as many posters above said the wifey wouldn't bee to happy about it. Even whiffle balls would be stretching it. My couch is not a very comfortable bed.
