Saw A Guy Hitting Warrior Stuff Today.........

He was playing their Driver, and fairway woods, and he was striping them with it. He was in the group just ahead of my buddy and I, and my buddy made the comment that"oh look, he's playing Warrior stuff, isn't that ?" I think he heard him(he didnt say it too loud, at least i didnt think so, more like under his breath), and proceeded to play them, and hit...WELL with them. He kept raving to us about how great he liked their stuff. I asked him if he was a rep for the company, or friends w/one? he said "Nope, just a guy from TX, who's here on vacation w/some friends, and am playing their stuff". He went on to say that he didnt think their stuff was vg @ first either, but he plays their top line stuff, and has been playing it for awhile. I held their new driver up to my Cobra S2, and lemme tell you, it didn't look too bad & he was striping the outta his Warrior driver, and almost outdriving me @ around 280, says he hits it farther than anything else he's played. My buddy and I ust stood there w/these "wow" looks on our faces.

Really nice guy, and even bought me and my buddy a round of cokes afterwards.

I just thought I'd bring it up, as so many here have said their stuff is crap. I was actually smiling a bit when I first saw him hitting it, like "oh boy, this is gonna be fun". From what I say today(Fri), their stuff wasn't " crap/garbage" at all.

A buddy of mine needed new wedges, thought he try out Warrior's "free" offer. I was concerned when he announced his intent to go that route, but he ended up satisfied enough with the wedges and the woods he was required to demo that he kept them all and allowed Warrior to keep his money. I think it was like $300 dollars for the six clubs. Hasn't uttered a word of regret since.

Now another story: I'm buddies with a local club pro who runs some nice junior clinics during the summer. Because of that, he also started stocking the shop with Powerbilt junior equipment. Consequently, he was given an Air Force One to play with. When I asked him how he liked it he said it was awesome, better than the Titleist 907 he'd been playing, although he thought that it was due more to the Fuji shaft than the nitrogen bladder. Still, kind of an eye-opener.

PowerBilt held a demo day in my hometown earlier this summer. Couple of buddies and I went, expecting to be underwhelmed. Couldn't have been more wrong. Woods and hybrids had a very soft yet satisfying feel, and the AF1 irons were a full club longer than my TM's and more forgiving. Too bad you can't find PowerBilt stuff anywhere!

I can't believe Warrior is still in business! I actually tried their driver, 3 and 5 wood offer when I first started golfing back in the late 90's.
The clubs just didn't feel as good as the older Ping Zings I was using so I called them up to send them back. Had a hell of a time trying to do so with their guys trying to convince me to stick with them. Initially, I gave them around $300, I think, and they kept saying they'd give me more and more of my money back with the condition that I keep the clubs. I think, in the end, I ended up keeping them and Warrior refunding about $250 of my money.
I then proceeded to sell the clubs in the local paper for a small profit- back then, Craigslist wasn't quite what it is today.
Sounds like they've made some progress with their quality with more players using them.

I wonder if they make a profit???

Still laugh, a few years back I bought a full set of clubs from Game in South Africa (their equivalent of Walmart) and played them for a year around the local track as I was originally only here for 12 months. Absolutely no name brand or even shafts, still played as good a golf as I ever have.

Even though I have now been back in Moz about 6 years the clubs are still around, I on sold them to my replacement, they changed hands a subsequent 3-4 times, then were kicking around our local pub as a spare set where I recovered them and they are now with a mates son who is just taking up the game.....

Really makes me laugh that I am really not any better with my reasonable bag full of more or less up to date clubs and at the end of the day I only shoot better consistently when I play and practice regularly....more or less regardless of what I am swinging

It's the player not the clubs

Totally. Years back, my old boss played a set of component Tommy Armour 845s (called 858s) and a set of old Golfworks "Out-a-Site" woods that he built. He was the club champion at his course 3 yrs in a row and held the low score on the course. A couple yrs later he bought a set of Callaway Big Berthas, but continued to play the Golfworks woods. He wasn't terribly long, but hardly missed a fairway or green. He also played 2 wedges (PW and SW).

 • 2 weeks later...

I took them up on their Tomahawk hybrid offer, paid $20 for shipping, and expected crap in return. I actually tried a "free" lob wedge years back, and it was better than expected, and I still have it in my "loaner" bag. Let me tell you first that I've never hit any hybrid to this point. I expected a broomhandle shaft and a paperweight head. Not necessarily the case. First time I hit it, I was inside of my R9 3-wood range, but outside my Burner 3-iron range, so I decided what the hell. I hit it on a rope, to 15ft, from 240 yrds out. I teed off on the 302yd par 4 next and was inside 50yds with it. I've honestly hit 2 bad shots(me, sadly, not the club) in 7 rounds. I would love to try a TM Rescue TP out, and see which one was easier to hit. I'm a 10ish HC, so its not that I can stripe any club I pick up. For a weekend "warrior"(no pun intended), probably not bad clubs to have. I am aware of the scam warnings out on them, but they haven't scammed on me yet.

That was how I got my first set of wedges. Took the wedges and had every intention of sending the rest of the woods I had to try back but ended up liking the driver. It is the TM like one with the weights and it hits really well. I was actually very surprised with the quality of everything. I have the wedges and driver still in my basement but do not use them anymore. I think they are a good set of clubs and with some of the crazy offerings thatt they have might be worth a look. Lots of stories of people being ripped off or scammed, but I had a pleasant dealing with them and was surpised by their stuff.
