As others have pointed out, I think Mr King is trying to be Mr Jobs. I love TM products, but it is getting a little ridiculous the amount of stuff they put out there.

 

Literally like Steve Jobs. Clothing, mannerisms, etc.

 

Version 2.0? Really? TM has one of the best (if not the best) marketing departments in all of golf, and all they could come up with was VERSION 2.0??

 

Gotta love the slogan though: "All you need to know is that they're long". (They must have been referring to the obscenely long shafts).

 

 

I can already see an owner of the originals (version 1.0) trying to find the USB port on the 7 iron in order to upgrade it to version 2.0.

 

 

I did see the JDM Burner TP irons and I would be willing to give those a try, but these......I'll pass.

 

Come on Mr. King, give us WRXrs what we really want......bring on the FORGED R9 TPs!!

Chappie, did you mean to type 3 iron and not 300 iron?
I will admit most low handicap golfers hit their 3 iron over 200 yards, but 190 yards is still fairly respectable.
I am not trying to attack you, I just found your post a little confusing.
I think you might have made a better point if you said 3 wood 190 yards or 170 yards.

If the 2.0's are 15 yards longer than the Burner 1.0's as TM claimed today and the Burner 1.0's were 20 yards longer than Faldo's 2008 irons as Faldo claimed in his last trackman commercial then Nick should be hitting his Burner 2.0 nine iron about 185 to 190 yards and his 2.0 five iron 235 to 240 yards.
Which is possible I suppose if the 2.0 nine iron is the loft of a 6 iron and the length of a 5 iron and the 2.0 5 iron is the loft of a 2 iron and the length of a 3 wood.

I don't think I'll ever game a TM club unless it is literally 30 yards farther than what I'm playing..without making the lofts stronger, and besides, this is a GI iron, so would a hack REALLY play a 3 iron?

I am a big TMAG fan.....but it was pretty obvious they were copying Apple's product release strategy. I guess that's ok.....if the product was truly game altering. Hard to think that hitting my irons 15 yards further would help that much.....I would rather hit them 5 yards straighter. Can't knock the product until I try it....but was a little underwhelmed with the video I just watched. Thought it might be their new driver that someone posted their patent for on here.....with adjustable COG.

I'm thinking the same thing, must be 37.625", which is still very long. I guess the 2009 Burners are already obsolete! Is this their first iron set with different shaft charatersistics for each club?

Why do marketing folks think that ripping off bad ideas are good ideas for their own product/image? Too much hype, which I guess is why I have always moved towards the Titleists and now Mizunos of the golf world!

That was supposed to be 3 iron, and I guess you are right, 160 is actually more accurate. I personally hit my 3 iron in the 220's, so a thirty yard difference seems like a lot, but you are probably right.

But in any event, my point simply was that, for the people these irons are designed for, they do make sense. If you really wanted to play them, then you should get fit for them and order them to your spec. I don't know, I just feel like that is kind of obvious.

I think I'm just getting tired of all the TM dogging. I understand why they get the crap they do, but it just seems like it's getting so redundant here lately. Especially in so far as crossing over to products that TM made that are legendary, such as the r7/v-steel/burner woods and the the 300 forged irons.

In any event, I'm more interested in what the TP's will look like, and I'm hoping they are basically the current JDM burner TP's. Not that I can afford or necessarily want new irons, but eventually I'd like to give that set a whack or two.

I loved Ashworth until a year ago, when they were bought out.

One more reason not to buy TM. Oh, forgot; if the new irons go farther, then my yardages are going to be off - so I might as well stay with my current set.

I'll reply to my reply. I am buying the Titleist 710 AP10 irons because: they won't be two generations old when I put them into play next year.

Mark King forgot - shafts are where it's at. Tittly has Nippon 1050's in the AP1's; TM - some weak "made for."

at 27* it is the same loft as most companies 5 iron (their 6) and longer than others 5 iron! THAT is why you will be longer with their 6 iron...

Actually, I hear that they will be releasing a full-length motion picture.....in 3D!!! The title?

The Unstoppable 8 meet the delusional gamer who doesn't understand why he can't hit a 19* 3-iron and 21* 4-iron.

 

 

(Hint: It's because the player this is aimed at, 20+ handicappers, probably have no business hitting irons with those lofts and should be using hybrids instead. You're asking them to hit a 2 and 3 iron. Several tour players don't even carry those irons anymore.)

 

In the movie, the leader of the Unstoppable 8, Mark King, is able to magically give this poor guy the ability to increase his 6-iron distance from 150 to 165. Amazing!!! In the end, the gamer realizes that if he wants this set, he needs to choose 6-LW in order for his game to actually benefit from this ground-breaking technology.....but is talked into buying the 4-GW set anyways which will result in frustration and the 4 and 5 irons will just sit there or be (wisely) replaced by hybrids.....from TM of course.

 

Seriously, why are they even offering a 19* 3-iron and 21* 4-iron anyways????
