TMAG new product announcement today at 3 ET

I'm actually one of the few big Taylormade fans and have most of their clubs in my bag, but I found the announcement over the top and a little embarassing for the brand. It seemed like a town hall meeting/pep rally for the TMAG employees, but let the product speak for itself once it comes out. A press release would be fine, IMO.

i never said otherwise....

the technology in the clubs (tm claims) makes them go further, not restamping a 6 iron as 7...

Longer does not make better. Knowing your distances and hitting your irons consistently make better. If you can do this with a longer shafted club ------ go for it. They are very likely a very nice club. However, most will not be as consistent much less more consistent with longer shafts.

Nobody, not me nor taylormade, said anything about restapming a 6 iron as a 7. I never said that thsi will improve your game. I do realize that the burner iron specs have less loft than other clubs from 6ish years ago, but so does nearly every mass-produced iron set made. Whats ironic too is that taylormade delofts their clubs less than other brands have in the past. Look at callaways lofts on their irons...even titleist has made sets featuring a 43 degree pitching wedge. It is a market wide trend these days that is in addition to the new technology that makes the ball go even further. I myself play taylormade irons (TP MB Smoke) with a 49 degree pitching wedge, and the rest of my set is based off that.

Please re-read what I wrote...never once said anything about re stamping irons. In addition to this, I don't get why most of you are assocaiting this with taylormade, when titlelist was the first to do this that I remember (the 43 degree PW set)

The one thing to consider here is despite the lofts being a bit jacked....TM has also used R&D to have that "6-Iron" with the 7 stamped on it to still hit the ball on a trajectory that looks very similiar to a 7 iron. Again, there were a lot of people that loved the first version...it's true...these clubs are not going to fit into this site's demographic...but that doesn't make them bad irons at all. People are so quick to judge.

I had a set of the first version with Project X 6.5's and loved the shorter irons...but 4 and 5 didn't fit me at all...they were just too bulky for me. I will say they felt soft off the club face and the 5 iron still had the trajectory of a 5 iron and the 9 iron...the same. Again, they don't hit 85% of the demographic of this website....but your neighbor, who is out cutting the grass right now, they most likely fit.

The only thing that I hope they fixed with these irons is the occassional "hot face" hit. When I had mine, I would hit a 9 iron or a pitching wedge and the ball would take off like a "Flyer" and go 10-15 yards longer than I would hit THAT club on average.

Give them a shot...or don't....these are not going to kick my 2009 TP's out of my bag....but who knows...maybe they come out with a TP version or some other's...THAT is th beauty of TM...a little something for everyone. I know everyone here hates their release schedule...the sad thing is...no one here keeps their clubs long enough to even have TM's release schedule effect their value.
