how to play golf during junior year of high school?

its only the third day and i already didn't have time to go to the range. how do you keep practicing and improving through the junior year. seems like there isn't enough hours in the day. i want to spend 2-3 hrs practicing. but it also takes 15 min just to get to the range.

Do you work, or what exactly is taking up all of your time? I usually play for 2-4 hours after school, then eat and hang out and do a couple hours of homework. Rinse and repeat.

yeah, doing work. What grade are you in.
i'm in 4 APs.
English
physics
physch (not hard or too much work)
us history

I honestly wouldn't even waste time with AP classes. Most colleges only give partial credits for AP classes anyway.

I went to Michigan State and got 12 credits for my AP's...it was a HUGE waste of time

I'm going into my junior now year in Michigan for highschool; and for guys golf we have changed our golf season to the spring to conphaste for the football players, QB is our #1 varsity player. That said; I'm a member at one of the country clubs and golf daily after school; sometimes playing, sometimes just short game, putting, and long game and swing. Most of the time to focus I'll bring my iPhone (music) and just putt and play. I also played daily over the summer, 11 am - 8 pm. Breaks just to eat. Since our season is in the spring; I only have about 2 weeks to get back to my usual routine. I putt daily over the winter, which is the most important part of my game.

That statement seems pretty foolish. I'm in 4 Aps now, did 3 last year, and at the least if you dont get credit, your still well better prepared than other people that didnt take the ap class. And if you even try at all(read a review book once) you should be able to get a solid 3 on about all the tests.

You're not better prepared. There is a reason AP classes receive little to no credit with most colleges. Mainly because AP classes don't actually teach college curriculum. If you want to get a leg up on college then you should be taking Huskins classes. APs are a huge waste of your time. Extra work for little to no pay-off.

Taking ap credit and having tough ad credit policies are completely different animals.

As someone who just graduated and worked for my University, AP credits can definitely make your life easier. For me personally, I didn't have to take Freshman English, any Math classes, or a foreign language. AP credits let me graduate early without doing much extra work during my time at school. I also ran graduation checks for students in the business school and AP credits often allowed students to graduate 1-2 quarters early.

Not to mention the money saved, and not having to be stuck with kids that you dont want to work with on projects.

Obviously you gotta cut something out. I have a heavy schedule as well. For me, I kinda have to limit my social life to play the amount of golf that I want. I guess just decide what's more important.

Is your golf season in the fall?

My high school switched two years ago to fall boy's golf....we used to play in the spring. I was a football player so I'm glad I didn't have to choose one over the other.

My junior and senior years were busy, too......I just got up early and stayed up late. Day started at 5am, bedtime at 10pm. Managed to get everything done. It wasn't easy but you can do it.

I will be in the same boat as the OP next year. Right now in 10th grade I am taking 2 aps and playing vars golf, sheduling is a challenge but I find that If I do all the readings and work on the weekend (no golf on the weekend) I am good for the upcoming week.

Youngsters....trust me when I say this.

You have PLENTY of time for golf, even with five AP classes, dating, hangin' with friends, and playing every other varsity sport.

Once you get to your mid 30's, with a mortgage, kids, a wife, bills, a job, hobbies, kids' hobbies, wife's hobbies, family time, personal time, etc etc etc you'll WISH you had the "hectic" high school schedule again. lol

Hard work, very strong grades and strong ACT/SAT scores pay off in the long run. Golf is a game.
Highly competitive schools look at not only your grades, but look very closely at the curriculum you chewed on. Making a choice to play golf rather than apply yourself to academics may cost you a lot of money in the long run, not to mention close some pretty dandy doors.
On the other hand, if you are one of the strongest golfers your age in your state....

I remember reading an arcticle about Jason day, who said that in order to get in all the golf HE wanted, he would get up at 4:30 Am, practice until he had to go to school at 8, and then practice after school until it was dark. So, if you care that much about golf, this seems logical.
