What courses to play in Dubai?

Please inform and advice

I'm going to Dubai ni early November to visit some friends, but I've booked place for the golf bag on the plane!

Probabaly got time for 2 rounds at the most. Anyone care to advice on where to play?

I think the obvious choice would be the Majlis Course @ Emirates Golf Club, as this is the one I've seen the European Tour play on. Other than that, I think we're gonna live pretty close to The Montgomerie.

The Dubai desert Classic is ok and prob good to play having seen it on TV but one I would try and play is the Els - much better and tougher - slight downside is that it is surrounded by condo's!!

Definitely play the Majlis course at Emirates.

I was in dubai last year. I played the else Club and the majalis course. the else club was amazing but there were a ton of houses on the course so I was a little disappointed. They did not come into play but I was hoping to play a desert course. The new norman course looks great. I wish I would have teed it up there.

I have played both courses at the emirates. montgomerie and Arabian ranches. I think the Motgomerie is just like courses in the US but the 18th hole is very cool. My favorite was Arabian Ranches is fairwai and Sand nor rough. The conditions were great and the course is 7800yds from the back. The fairways are wide and lots of roll. I would play the Monti and Ranches. I wasnt amazed by the Emeriates. But if you want to play where the pros play the go to the Emeriates.

I'm a +1 from Florida living in Dubai now. I've played them all many times so here's my two cents:

(1) Majlis is the best all-around course. It is the most mature, has the history and is now in the world top 100 in some magazines.
(2) Jumeriah Estates has two great course. Fire is a desert course and plays fast. Earth is tighter and green. I prefer Fire. Both are Norman courses and these are the only two of his course that I like.
(3) Els, Monty, Al Badia, Dubai Creek, Arabian Ranches: These are the also-rans and in order of best to worst. They are worth playing but only if you can't get on the top two.
(4) Yaz Links in Abu Dhabi is a new course by Kyle Phillips (Kingsbarns). It is outstanding. A true links course in Arabia. It felt like I was playing Portrush and Kiawah at the same time while located in the Bahamas. Part of me wish I had a fly-rod with me as well the water is so inviting but the design of the green structures is brilliant. This is brand new but also in outstanding condition. The only other course worth playing in Abu Dhabi is ADGC which is where they host the tourny (the one Phil is playing in January).
