Ironwood golf club in Fishers Indiana

Is this course worth playing?

We are trying to find another course to play in the surrounding area near The Fort in Lawrence. Does anyone know if Ironwood is in good shape? We have played most of the good ones in the area that we know of. We would like to try out something different. We have already been to the Brickyard, Bear Slide, Purgatory, and Prairie View. Any other suggestions within maybe 30 miles of The Fort, that would be a better option then Ironwood? Any help would be appreciated.

How about Plum Creek, right across the road from PrairieView?

Only go to Plum Creek if u like a course that u can hit your drive 50 yards offline and still be in the fairway...not very challenging...not sure how far south you are willing to go but Otter Creek in Columbus is always in great shape....

Played Ironwood last weekend and it was in great shape...greens rolled quick, I was happy...the Lakes 9 is a good challenge from the back tees...

Trophy Club in Lebanon is also always in great shape...great track

Certainly not the most challenging course out there but always in pretty good condition and not too expensive and was close to where he wanted to play. I agree with Trophy Club is well worth the short drive!

+1 on Otter Creek. Always in good shape. They have 27 holes, the North and the West 9's made up the course that was used for the Indiana Am for years. Won't want to spray the ball down there.

On a side note Jeff Overton shot a 64 (32-32) in the last round of his 2003 victory at Otter Creek and repeated in 2004 at The Brickyard in Indy.

Thanks for the replies. We are actually already playing Trophy Club the day before, so it seems we picked a good one there, based on everyone's opinion. I think we will just stick with Ironwood. The consensus seems to be it's a "pretty" good course, with nice conditions. I was told to play the original 18, which I believe is the Valley/Lakes. Is that correct?

What was your favorite so far? I love the forts lay out and prairie views conditions are usually excellent.

I played here back in June in a buddies tourney. It was 8 am tee time and it was $25 with cart. Well worth the price, decent enough.

You might try Royal Hylands in Knightstown. Always in great shape and a fun course. Not too long but fun, affordable and about 20 minutes down 70 from the Fort.

yeah, trophy club is great. we played there in may last year.... awesome back 9. very good conditions. customer service was outstanding- we got there on friday, got 5 holes in and huge storms rolled in... we hung out in the clubhouse for a few hours, thinking the course might re-open, but the weather wouldn't cooperate. the pro offered us a raincheck for a full 18 holes for the next day(even though saturday is prime time with higher rates)!! so we played saturday, re-played for only $25... enjoy!

What are folks opinion of ironwood? Which 9s should i request to play?

Played this course now....can't say I'd recommend it. The tees, greens and fairways were fine....but the rough and bunkers were in very poor shape. The layout was pretty good, but the conditioning was a big turnoff.
