I like everything about it, shape, color, except I won't be able to get by that spider web or whatever it is on the top.

I agree about the headcover...the g2/g5 headcover was absolutly awful looking...I say that but have the damn cowboys colored headcover in my bag as we speak.

Nice face depth. That was the one thing missing from the G2/5. Good color scheme but the headcover is horrible. Too busy and too much of a "Come steal me" style. I'm not a fan of the "graphics" on top either. When you put the carbon cap over a metal frame, the frame shouldn't show through. TOO busy. Probably won't keep me from trying it but it won't make my buy one.

Great job on getting the pics...

 

If you look closely, it appears there is a half-moon crescent alignment aid in addition to the spider web. That is just too much on the crown. Would be a sweet looking driver without either of those....

The Ping Alba? Depending on the headcover, that could be a smash.

 

I'll give Ping some credit for guts in their new design in terms of appearance. It's probably not going to attract too many new customers, nor really going to scare off any Ping loyalists; but it gets them some publicity.

well the news ive gotten is that the crown graphic that looks like a warped window is for visual illustration the tour models will not have it on there very long and the retail version will not at all. by the way the ping rep i spoke with recognized 2 of the people by their reflections in the crown. and no they are not ping afilliated,hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I, like everybody else almost, hate the visuals on the crown. If they would get rid of them I would love to have a Ping driver. I can't stand the half moon on there from the g2/5. That headcover is one of the best I've seen though.

I doubt that they care at this point. Yes if it was taken at their plant/test facility they might get concerned. But since they don't have tarps over the clubs when they are hit they probably don't mind. It is well known that the various manufacturers salt various sites like these for feedback on names, appearances etc. etc.

 

Does that rep. have that CSI software that can take 2 pixels worth of data and produce a 300 meg. clear as a bell file. You shouldn't watch so much TV.

I agree....the headcover is wild!! Like most I am a little concerned about the graphics on the top, but as with the G2 and the G5 you stop noticing after a while.

Thanks so much for the pics. I am going to the BC Open next week and will look for the new pings and take a buch of pics. Those graphics on the driver is a NO NO. :drinks:
