Normally tucked in when I get to the golf course, then after the first swing, it's untucked, because why tuck it back in if it's going to keep coming out everytime I swing?
There's also the option of buying a longer cut shirt.

It's funny because then the guys look like they are wearing parachutes. The peter jacobson look.

Just tuck in your shirts every once in awhile man!

Untucked is the only way to go.
Untucked is not allowed at most South African courses.....maybe the small rural town and holiday resort courses will overlook it.

But the general official dress code does not allow it. (I was actually surprised to see the thread discussing it as an option)

Good! Throw the offenders in as part of the Leopard hunting tour. :clapping:

To me, it is a matter of being dressed appropriately for the "occasion" be it golf or anything else. I would not wear shorts and a T-shirt to church or out to dinner at a nice restaurant, but I would wear that to eat at Burger king. Same goes for golf, I would not show up to Cypress Point with my shirt untucked wearing cargo shorts, but I would show up at my local muni that way. I usually do not tuck my shirt in to play golf, but I normally play public courses. I also do not feel the need to remove my hat in the "clubhouse" of my local muni, but I would certainly take it off walking into the clubhouse at Cypress Point. When I play an upscale course or am a guest at a private course I am definately tucked in (even though I hate it, but I respect courses rules and etiquette.) Nothing worse than being called out for your attire and made to change, tuck etc.... If people wear clothing that actually fits them properly, having an untucked shirt is not "sloppy", it's casual. Many people look sloppy with tucked in shirts as well. It's all about having clothes that fit, and dressing appropriately for the given occasion.

Funny watching Geoff Ogilvy's and Poulter's Playing lesson they were both wearing shorts and were untucked. These guy's don't wear shorts or untuck their shirts because their job mandates so. But off the clock the majority of younger professional golfers go with shorts and are untucked most of the time.

And what about the ladies tour? Are they slobs too?

pro wanna bees=Tucked

Down to earth folk who want comfort=untucked

Thats funny,

I thought it went like this,

People who respect the game and courses dress code = tucked.

Slobs who dont care about how they look = untucked

With sweaters and rain gear being the obvious exception.

I dont get some peoples issues with tucking thier shirts in? I guess thats why we have goat track muni courses.

I frequently play with a very good player here in Atlanta that wears tight shirts. His shirts never seem to come un-tucked during the round while I'd be re-tucking my shirt in a few times during the round. So I asked him what the deal was and his answer was very simple he used safety pins in the front of the shirt and the back of the shirt and pinned it to his boxer. Now that is what I called over obsessed with his shirt staying tucked..~!~!~!

I play muni's and low end public courses almost exclusively, simply because that's what I can afford. Even so, I always put on a pair of slacks, and tuck in my shirt. The guys I play with do the same, not that we've discussed it - it's just the way we feel most comfortable dressing for a day of golf. As for the shirt coming untucked, sure it happens - but 'cmon how long does it take to tuck it back in? Maybe it's a generational thing. Most of the folks I see playing while wearing cargo shorts-backwards caps-and Tshirts are a lot younger than I am (but then, who isn't?)

I go tucked and untucked. I have a bit of a gut so if my pants are feeling a little tight that day I might go untucked. I would rather play with 3 people who are friendly and polite

For golf's reputation I am bothered that this question is even asked. :) On second thought, I shouldn't be since I see so many of our youth walking around with the back side of their pants hanging down around their ankles... if they only knew where sagging came from.

Why some people get so worked up about this kind of stuff is beyond me. Golf fashion is constantly evolving. Imagine the discussion on this forum eighty years ago over “tie or no tie”, or “knickers or long pants”. And what about the first guy who ventured onto the course in a pair of Bermuda shorts? Holy crap, what was HE thinking! That thread would have gone on for longer than the jeans or no jeans thread. What’s appropriate attire on the course is established by the course itself. Some shirts are made to be tucked in some aren’t. Wear what you feel comfortable in. Don’t let what someone else is wearing bother you. If the course has a rule on attire, follow it. We’re out playing golf. Things could be worse.

I wear my shirt tucked because it looks better. Since I work and play at a pretty exclusive country club the only time I am ever untucked is if I am on the range and that is if nobody is there. If I am at my other course with friends (none of them tuck their shirts) I might go untucked just to not look like a stiff being the only one tucked in. But I wear a white belt and I often times try and coordinate pants, belt, shirt, and hat and if I go untucked it doesn't flow as nice.

This is a true statement. I sag my pants but onlt because my legs are pretty muscular so I wear 32 pants but only a 30 inch waist. I have an excuse :secret:

I have a laid back style off the course, just jeans and t-shirts but on the course is totally opposite. I have to look perfect, it is pretty bad. I feel like I am metrosexual on the course cuz I match so well and have to look good but it is just my golfing flair. Off the course I don't care but on the course I like being dressed up and and looking clean cut.

99.9% of the time I'm tucked in. It looks neater and my stomach is still fairly flat. The 1% percent normally happens from some kind of emotion; big fist pump or the occasional slamming of the clubhead in anger.
