Just picked up the PT82 and it is so much better than I expected. That sight line really grows on you.. ( I can see why Phil plays one just like it). The insert feels incredible and I'm sure you can find one for about 275.

Many of you guys tried the scotty cameron napa california?

If so, is it one of the best blade options if you have the money? :)

I have a CA Napa, along with a bunch of other 8802 style putters. The Cameron is fine, but I game a Mills handmade 8802 and the Byron 99% of the time.

I try out just about every non-boutique 8802 style putter I can, and have recently tried the Rife Bimini, Bettinardi BC7. Kept the Bimini, but sold the BC7. The Rife was a tad heavy, but had good feel. The BC7 felt terrible to me, no feedback at all.

Haven't done the Tad Moore Barn Find, but I have a custom handstamped one from him that is pretty sweet-feeling. Wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with an insert so I never pulled the trigger on one.

I passed on the Byrons because they headweights are so heavy, I don't like anything over 330g and prefer ones that are even under 320g. Also bought a Slighter. Great looking putter but for whatever reason, couldn't make anything with it so I sold it.

Haven't gotten a 8882 yet, but the sightline just kills it for me so I probably won't bother with it, same with the new Odyssey PM putter. However the 325g headweight may tempt me...

Its hard to beat the Classic Napa from 1995, IMO the best incarnation of the 8802/DBAP, but they are pricey...

If you are looking for a "deal" check around for an older Cleveland Designed By putter. Easily under $100 and sometimes as low as $25 even in decent shape. They are older styles and as such have lighter headweights. I have 5 different ones and they swingweight from C6 to D4. All over the map. Those models IMHO have the closest look/shape/feel to the original DBAB or 8802.
the bimini is heavy? I think it's on the light side, at 330gm... the 8882 is 337gm but that sight mark isn't even on the sweet spot. to me it has a harder feel, more of a pop. haven't spent much time w/ the BC7 yet, but I wouldn't say it has terrible feel... are you using the spongy stock winn grip? hate those things, no idea why they are so popular and have pretty much become the standard oem grip
+1 on the BC7 feel until you regrip. Mine is 33" and had ducktape from the factory...Cut that off/re wrap and throw on a Pingman. You'll love it.

The Ca Napa beneits from a heavier head than prior Cameron offerings. The bad news is that the black finish is high maintenance and therefore not necessarily the best option for both the average public player and daily use.

If you are set on Camerons, I'd look for an American Classic VII. Same head shape, but finished in nickel for better durability.

Thanks fellas some great looking blades here.

I managed to pick up a 35" BC7 from 3Balls for $80 plus shipping. By the time I hit the Links with it it'll have set me back around £100 with the postage and import duties. I think this was a very good buy. I opted for the lighter headed 35" model after reading the comments in this thread, I figure I can always add weight but it's hard to take away! I will be replaceing the grip with a leather wrap gip, can't wait for it to arrive, knowing 3balls it will be here by Wednesday. I will add some pictures, this is a putter I've always wanted to see and try.

Thanks for all the input and keep the pictures flowing!

I just bought a used Rife Bimini (Limited Edition 190 of 500) recently in a golf store for $87. I have been on the market for traditional blades for a while now, but most of the ones I have seen have out of my budget like the Odyssey PT82 and the Scotty Cameron. I constantly stop by in Golf Mart every week to look for bargains and finds. Luckily, I found this utter in great condition. I was not able to resist to make the purchase for its price. I have only used it once on the course.

yeah, that's a good find... I saw a new one for 150 at the local GG, priced the same as the 'regular' bimini. thought about it, but already have a regular in the bag that I got used for 50. that td42 looks nice, albeit backwards... I'm playing around w/ one of mine right now, just might take out next game

Yea, the Byron Morgan blade looks terrific. I am going to pick me up a Copper plated "Designed by Captain Morgan" next week. It's pure impulse but I have been eyeing this putter since Byron came out with it.

What is TerCu? Terillium Copper? This is just a standard copper plate over a stainless steel putter. I am not sure what Byron specs for his plating. This putter will be outstanding once some patina sets in.

My BC7 arrived on Thursday. I have played 36 holes with it and I must say I am very impressed. It's 35" and has only a 330g head weight, I'd normally go 350ish grams and 33-34 inches so it's not my usual spec but I was struggling to find any BC7's anywhere so just thought I'd chance it.... My 1st putt with it on Friday afternoon was a 45 footer up hill with a fair amount of swing from left to right. I hadn't even been on the practice green with it, slight forward press, took it away and gave the ball a nice rap, it started exactly on the line I had choose and rolled really nicely, 10 foot to go and its still tracking towards the hole, by this time my putter is raised one handed way above my head ala Payne stewart, boom in she goes, Birdie!!! Next couple of holes i had 35-40 foot tricky putts, left myself two tap in's. Very impressive indeed. Today I played 18 more holes, distance control is easy with this stick & lining up isn't too bad. I have added a PM style line on the head to assist lining up. I missed a couple of short 2-3 footers but the greens were very soft and bumpy today so it was more to do with bad bobbles than a bad stroke. I holed a few nice putts on the better greens so I'm still more than happy with it for now.

did you paint the line on it? or use tape?
keep your eyes/ears open for shorter ones that you can lengthen, they came in 343gm at 34" length and 355gm at 33"

It's just tape at the moment but I'd like to make it permanant. With the line being on two levels you need to have your eyes in the correct spot for it to line up correctly. This makes sure I'm in the same setup position time after time instead of dropping my hands a liitle too low and maybe standing a little to far away from the ball. Great putter for the $80 plus postage it cost me.

I used the new/demo Bettinardi SS6 yesterday. I don't know what Bettinardi did with the fit face on the '11 line versus the fit face on the Miz BC series but it feels a lot better. I'm going to hate (and I don't like using that word) having to give this back to the store.

I was waiting to try this before deciding on a DBCM. Looks like the SS6 is going to win.

It appears that the Designed by Captain Morgan putter I posted pictures of in post #47 is actually the putter I received. I have just gripped it with a Gripmaster Stitchback. The feel of this putter is excellent and it is heavy enough for my liking. This putter is a stainless putter plated with Copper. The feel is about the same as any carbon steel putter I have ever used. I would definitely recommend this putter for any person wanting a '02 styled putter. This is not the cheapest putter but it is well worth it.

I don't like those .... I LOVE THOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a DBAP that has been grinded down a bit and rechromed (got this during my putter ignorance stage). Someday I want a very very nice DBAP for my collection. This is the one that started the '02 style craze! Well almost but I doubt I could ever get my hands on the original prototype Mr. Palmer created from the MacGregor IMG and used in the '60 US Open. ;)

Just picked up a Wilson 888 Series 8882 putter at PGA Superstore for $89.99. I was not looking for a putter, but wandered over to the putter section while waiting on a regrip and rolled this putter a few times. Wow! I really like the weight, feel, grip, overall look and price!! I have a Scotty on the way (Newport 2.6) so you know I must have really liked this putter to buy it.(cool)
