voodoo vs. x-con 6

Demoed this club with the voodoo and got great distance with good launch angle but spin was a little high. Given that the voodoo is listed as a mid launch/mid spin shaft and the x-con is high launch/low spin, what could I expect from the x-con compared to the voodoo. I thought that high launch and low spin were pretty much mutually exclusive. Even if the lauch is a bit higher with the x-con but the spin is lower it might be a good fit.

Try dropping down a loft if needed and get the X-Con. I preferred it over the Voodoo in my demo.

i agree, i felt the xcon is much more consisent than the voodoo

I agree Xcon 6 has been great. Very consistent and long as advertised.

I believe the voodoo is overrated. IMO the blueboard/whiteboard are still the best shafts. The ft tour head is sweet though.

the xcon is a great shaft to my surprise, i just was being ignorant having tried to play a couple made for shafts by matrix and figured there wasn't a difference. I was wrong. The x con is about the same launch as the normal voodoo, not much difference. Holds up well to an aggressive swing and responds just as well to a smooth one. Launched the ball high, yet it didn't balloon, and still had a little roll out. I was averaging about 270 carry and 285-290 total. It highly impressed me. The FT tour head was impressive as well, it is extremely hot IMO.



I ordered a FT Tour 9.5 with a F7M2 LTD and can't wait to get it and try it out.

I demoed it in 8.5 loft so going down a loft isn't an option. the launch angle with the voodoo was great but the spin was higher than I would like to see. I know the higher spin is a swing issue, but it's one that I just can't seem to beat. I hit the ball long enough, so I'm not going to worry too much about the spin, but I just thought if the x-con would bring the spin down even a bit, and improve the feel, it would be worth it seeing as it is no upcharge for the shaft. I found that when I really went after the ball with the voodoo that I could pull it so hearing that the x-con is more stable with a more aggressive swing is also nice.

The whiteboard is the shaft that spun less than the X-Con 6 spun and the Ozik loads better on slower swing I THINK. Plus the X-Con 6 is a FREE upgrade shaft in the FT TOUR.

Agreed...it is one of the most stable feeling shafts i have felt as a retail option in a club.

+1 on the Xcon. It will spin less and a wider variety of weight options to reduce the spin.

The XCON 6 is a great shaft.

I have an XCON 5 (and just bought a new XCON 6 to replcae the one I sold) and also an F6M2. IMO, all the shafts in the matrix Ozik line are excellent and finding the right one to fit your swing can mean an extra 15 yards (no BS).

If you have a hard transition the XCON might feel too loose, in which case an F7M2, or F6M2 might be a better fit.

I made the same assumption XHLR8N made and assumed the "made for" shafts were the same as the aftermarket. WRONG.

Thanks for that link Carlo. Based on the spin comparisons, I think it would either be the x-con 6 or the f6m2. There doesn't really seem to be anything in between the two for launch angle with spin that low in the mid 60 gram range. The TPHD6 looks about perfect (mid launch low spin) but I'm not looking to spend that kind of money. The draw to the x-con is that it is a free upgrade. I'm just concerned that it may launch too high as the launch angle with the voodoo was about right and it is classified as a mid launch shaft. Maybe go up a degree in loft and try to find an f6m2 pull.

Either way, I'm off to the range tomorrow afternoon to hit the club with a bunch of different shafts and I want to try it outdoors against the dst tour.
