Clubs for "Tweens"

Too big for youth sets, too small for adult

Our 12 yr old is 5'3" and has outgrown his Ping Moxie youth set. He wants a golf set for Christmas, and I haven't been able to find any sets for kids his age. There are lots of sets for kids, but no much for "tweens" like him. Saw a Ram "teen" set, but it looked like it cost $19 to manufacture.

I've looked at the womens club section to see if there were any sets that a boy wouldn't mind, but none fit the bill...too feminine. Don't really want to spend the dollars needed to custom order a grown up set.

Any suggestions?

you can try looking into the the mens clubs with senior flexes since the shafts are softer than regular flexes and possibly shorten the clubs to fit his height.

Tour edge has a set for teens. They are called the HP7 Varsity Package set. It says they are for ages 12 and over.

Go get that Adams 14 piece set in senior flex and cut them down. Or any set in senior flex for that matter. To save some $$$, you can alway buy from Cally Pre-owned or some place similar.

As for the putter, you can buy an adult putter and cut it down. But this may make it too light. So find a 33 inch putter if your going to do this since some manufacturers will make heavier heads for 33 inch long putters.

Thanks for all the suggestions...the US Kids Tour Series 63 was far and away the best. I checked them out with my pro today...well made and will fit my son great for a couple of years. Ordered a set today.

Just re-shaft any men's club heads with senior or women's shafts. No need to use ladies club heads. Men's and woman's club head weights are all most always the same, just pink paint ect.......the shafts are lighter.

ladie,s sets. i played with women's set when i was young. you can get some that don't look like ladie's sets.
