Titleist 910D3 v's FT Tour?

Anybody hit both same spec's?
Who's hit both in same spec? How did they compare in performance?

I've decided to go back to a 10.5 degree head. I hit a very high ball and have been talked into/fitted into lower lofted drivers.... but after two years of moving down to a 9.5 then 8.5 degree drivers I've decided I want to hit 10.5 again. The lower loft has in my view lead to an increase in my bad shot, a draw/hook. I may hit it a little further but sem to get more side spin with the bad swings. I've decided to go to a 10.5 to increase launch and spin and maybe fit it with a mid to low launching stiff tipped shaft. FT Tour and 910D3 are the one's I want to try.

I have a ft tour with an stock voodoo in x flex, demoed the 910 d3 with stock RIP in s flex. Hit a couple drives with both clubs for about 10 holes. For me the 910 slightly edged out the ft tour in distance. I love them both and would be happy playing either. They are both fantastic drivers and I really couldn't pick one over the other. Both are 9.5 loft heads. Hope this helps.

How did the driver's feel at impact? Does the 'Tour Van in a hosel' titleist feel as good as a normal glued hosel?

The adjustability of the Titleist does appeal with my bad shot going left, so being able to tweak the drivers set up sounds good to me but feel is still very important.

I have hit the FT, and played an R9 with a blueboard x in it. It was dumped immediately by a 8.5 910D3 w/Kai'li 70g x "authentic". The head is super forgiving. I can go at it with almost no consequences. Brilliant really...

Really? Whats your typical bad shot and how do you have the club setup? To be honest I was leaning towards the FT Tour as I had one briefly at the start of the season, didn't like the Voodoo shaft but loved the feel and sound of the head. I've seen one 10.5* with a stiff Fubuki 63x5ct and was pretty much leaning that way as I've tried Nike, TM and Callaway's screw in shafts and never really trusted them, if that makes sense?

B1 is my setting. Std loft, .75* flat. Miss is usually slightly right. I have used the R9 and the 910 now. The shafts feel just fine. But I cannot attest to the "made for titleist shafts" I paid the $125 upcharge and got the kaili. Its a solid driver. Cant go wrong.

Been to the range today with my Friend. He bought a 910D3 this week and brought it along with him. It's 9.5 degree with the made for WhiteBoard (or whatever the new one is called). Great looking head, nice impact sound but I wasn't blown away with the performance. I had a 909D2 with WhiteBoard and that felt hotter for me. It's probably the shaft that made the difference but after seeing him messing around with it ever two minutes I've decided to go for the FT Tour. I'm only a GreenKeeper and not a very well paid one at that so the £120 difference is a large factor in my decision. If the 910 had blown my socks off I would have had one. I imagine if I went for a fitting they'd find me a better fit than that shaft but I'm happy to stay with a glued hosel. Seeing my Friend confuse himself with the setting up of the driver (he's a Cat 1 player with a course record to his name) I think I'd always have a doubt in my mind as to wether I've got it setup correctly, especially when I hit a bad drive!

Both are very capable drivers but I give the edge to the Titty, seems more stable and consistant to me. No issues with the adaptor here...BB :)

Irons: 19' Cobra CB's
Drivers: Titleist TS3 & Cobra F9
Fairway: Titleist 917F2
Hybrid: A-Grind

I'm not questioning the quality of the adaptor, I just think it would lead me to thinking i had the driver on the wrong setting if I hit a few wayward drives. However the main reason is the £100+ difference between the 2. I'll probably end up having a 910D3 at some point but probably 6-12 months down the line when they are on the Bay quite a bit cheaper.

It's funny how a little while ago there was a Topic started that was "910 vs FT Tour" (Link Below)

http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/424874-callaway-ft-tour-or-titleist-910/page__p__2833851__hl__ft+tour+d3__fromsearch__1#entry2833851

In the above topic, the majority was saying to go with the FT Tour. In this topic, the majority is saying go with the 910.

I've played the FT Tour and absolutely LOVED it!! I liked the muted sound and feel and low spin this head provided. I've only hit the 910 D2 & D3 drivers indoors in simulators as winter has set in here in the Northeast. Both the drivers in the 910 series look and feel amazing. But, so does the FT Tour.

Tough to say if one is definitely better than the other. I will say that both drivers in the 910 series seem to have a bit more forgiveness in them than the FT Tour, but I haven't played the 910 in an actual round to compare.

One combo I would love to try is a 910 D2 8.5º with a RIP 70X. I really think that could be a seriously long and forgiving combo.

MG,

I see you've made your decision and I've made the same one.

I had the opportunity to hit the 910 D3 8.5 with a Kai'li 80X and a PX 7A3. I have the same set up in a FT9 TA head so it is apples to apples for comparison purposes.

The D3 is a legitimate "driver" and the best offering from Titleist since the 983. I'm not really into the adjustabiity thing as I went through all of that with the R9. But I'm willing to concede it has it's place. Setting the adjustability factor aside, the D3 is more than just another "no spin bomber". It looks good, it sounds good, and most of all, it plays great. The workability is (for lack of a better term) better with the FT9.I'm still a big J33 fan and this driver reminds me of it alot as far as performance, it's just the D3 seems more refined. I seemed to get better results from the 7A3 in the D3 as opposed to the Kai'li for the FT9. But maybe that's just me on a given day.Distance was about the same as I could throw a blanket over the difference in the two. More importantly (to me) I was more accurate with the FT9 and therefore based my decision more on that. I really like the D3 and over the winter will have more time to mess with it, but for now, the FT9 TA is in the bag and that's not a bad thing at all.

On another note, my Titleist buddy who provided me the D3 and shafts to try told me he'd already had to replace eleven (11) tips/heads. He says they have the warning labels and all vendors are supposed to tell customers about this (usually with a sales receipt) but says Titleist is more concerned about it than originally thought. I guess time will tell.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I played the FT Tour 10.5 with Aldila Voodoo XVS7, now have 910D3 10.5 with Whiteboard 73X. I also prefer the look, feel/sound of the 910. My D3 launches a touch higher and a little less spin I would guess too. FT Tour has a unique, muted feel that does sound nice but I prefer the 910. IMO, the 910D3 is the best look driver from address...ever.

I still think the 905T & R are the best looking drivers for the 400cc and above era.... just looks superb and is one of the best made heads ever. Just talked myself into getting one as my back up!!!
