Bridgestone, Yes but also Taylormade????
It has been posted that longtime Titleist player (after Tommy Armour remember) has switched to the Bridgestone ball (a better fit for his game). But has anyone mentioned yet that he will be playing a TaylorMade driver this year? Done deal.

I've heard from my local rep after sales meetings in Carlsbad, that Davis Love III is on a Driver, Bag, Ball and footwear deal. Along with another titleist staffer, Steve Stricker. From what i've heard, Stricker will be on the same contract as Davis Love III, with iron and wedges to follow.

So what happens to other Titleist staffers, like Oglivy and Scott??

even with the restructuring, titleist would be crazy to dump stricker. with TM and nike grabbing all the big names, titleist needs stricker

Stricker is still Titleist, Any info saying otherwise is incorrect.

This really does not make any sense...if uses a TM ball then why would DL3 be using anything Bridgestone??? Just irons but they will be following? Where does Bridgestone fit in? Makes no sense to me and I could see him using a TM Driver but everything else Bridgestone. I guess we'll have to wait a few weeks to see.

I used to be a PGA Tour rep. Many of you cannot fathom what a "that guy" Davis Love III is. The biggest "underachiever" of our generation. Silver spoon fed golfing prodigy with a record in the majors no better than Rich Beem.

I care, I like Davis. I like the way he plays the game. Long High drives!!! I like what he has done for the game. I like the fact he has won 20 pga events and a major in the Tiger area....who else has done that other than Tiger asnd Phil. I like his swing, the fact he is a family man, and the way he presents himself on camera. I like that he was on the players advisery board for a long time. I like that he has only had 2 names on his bag to date Tommy Armour and Titleist and what he did for both. I like that he will be a Ryder Cup captin. and into the hall of fame. I like that he won the 20 events in the tiger area. I like that he was one of the last to have a wood driver in his bag. He is loyal, well more loyal then most to his equipment. And I LOVE the rainbow. Go Davis Go

I like the guy. I don't know him personally obviously but what he does with a golf club in his hand is what I like. He will be a great addition to whoever he joins. He will also do some serious damage on the senior tour I think. Will be fun to watch him in 2011 with new gear. Go Davis.

I've played with Davis and you couldn't be more wrong. He is a great guy. I think Polo mis markets the true Davis, but again it is their product and their marketing to their desired audience.

As far as the "underachiever", well I'm sure he would have like to win more tournaments, who wouldn't. With that being said he does have a major and 20 tour wins. How many others have 20?? 20 wins puts him 33rd all time. 20 puts him ahead of some great players such as Tom Kite 19, Ben Crenshaw 19, NIck Price 18,Tommy Bolt 15, Fred Couples 15(talk about "underachiever"), Tom Weiskopf 15, Corey Pavin 15, Hal Sutton 14, Seve 9, & NIck Faldo 9.

Can't argue with you too much, but career wise it is a joke to say he is "ahead" of Nick Faldo no matter how large a jerk Faldo was. 6 Majors to 1 major ?

I pull for Davis and hopes he gets back into the winners circle soon no matter what he ends up playing BTW.

DL3 must have been doing something right to hold onto his contract for so long - how many years was he with Titleist? Rather refreshing to see a pro stay loyal to a brand for a long period of time - even if they haven't acheived quite as much as their company would like - *cough* Adam Scott *cough*.
Stricker is still on the Titleist website as a staff player though - what happens in the upcoming season may indicate something about the future of the Acushnet brand.

The "silver spoon" is dependent on how you feel about DLIII. As for the 'underachiever' part, I could not agree more. Whether he is an "underachiever" or overrated, I have been hearing it for over 15 years from PGA Professionals, Tour Pros, sales reps, etc. that with that swing, he COULD have won much more, and definitely SHOULD have more majors in his trophy case. I think the consensus is that he is an overall good guy, great family man, well respected, extremely talented, but missing that little extra. Even he admitted so much, especially when Tiger first came out. I don't think any single tour player has done more to uplift the sports psychologist, particularly Dr. Bob Rotella, to the forefront of professional golf than Davis Love has.
