Best anti-left TaylorMade driver / shaft combo?

Struggling with driver at the moment. I want something I can set up to be anti-left but something I can adjust to neutral once my swing is back on. I'm thinking the R9 SuperTri would be the best bet as I can set it up with the face open and the heavy weight in the toe. Other options would be the SD, original R9 and R9 460... Which do you think would be the best head? Also I swing around 105mph, which would be the best shaft option? I've never tried a few of the newer TM shafts, how do the Motore's & R.I.P play?

 

 

Anyone else struggling with a 'over keen' draw, what setup did you use?

Anti Left? Taylormade SuperDeep with RIP X. I have the face set to open and 16 grams in the heel with 2 grams in the toe. Best thing about the Superdeep is that you can set it up to work anyway you want. If your swing changes, so can the club. The SuperTri spins way to much so if you hook the ball it might exaggerate that...

SuperDeep weights 16 heel 1-10 in toe. Setup N or R .Try to hook that.RIP or HD6 .

i had an R9, you can open it up and alter the weighting....... get a heavier or stiffer shaft, that helps some.. not as much as face angle though.

you can setup any taylormade adjustable driver to be anti left. If you want some forgiveness go with the supertri.

more weight in the toe promotes a fade, more weight in the heel promotes a draw

Not sure I've got the consistancy for the SuperDeep, or the swing speed for an x flex RIP to be honest? I think I'll start off picking up a SuperTri then maybe down the line pick up a Deep so I can compare. Think I'd probably need a 10.5 Deep if they are that low spin?

What shaft did you have in your ST?

had the RIP 70 stiff, it was a bomber

I'm thinking RIP 70 Stiff or the Motore in 85? I've never tried either but prefer heavier shafts. What does the RIP play like/compare too? Shafts I have recent experiance with are WhiteBoard, Blueboard, V2, Fubuki & ProLaunch Red.

How about looking at your swing and figure out why you are hitting it left so often?

My suggestion is any FCT TaylorMade or a new Titleist 910.

Supertri. Played with two guys that fought an awful hook. They had big weights in the toe and hit baby draws to straight balls with it. Deep too. Look no further.

It's a mental thing at the moment. I'm hitting my irons superb, they are MP67's and I'm knocking down the pins with them! 3 wood I'm hitting fine, as well as rescue.... But when I'm stood over the ball with driver I've got all sorts of sh*t going on in my head and I'm just hooking the hell out of it. When I'm on and hitting driver well I have zero swing thought's, as soon as I get my brain involved with my swing things go wrong. It's like driving my car, I just do it, If I were to analise how much and when to accelerate, brake, indicate, dip the clutch, change gear etc, I'd write it off in an instant! I just want something I can set up to rebuild my confidence with and then alter when I'm back in form.


Might even give the SD a try first... With my iron's I hit my MP67's better than the forged cavities I've tried in the past few years, prefer the look over the ball and that gives me the confidence to just swing them.

Haha, just when I'm beggining to lean towards the SD this is the kind of thing I wanted to hear. I was thinking ST when I created the thread but whilst this thread has been progressing I've been reading up on the ST, SD and 910 and the SD was just beggining to to edge it in my mind. Maybe the ST should be my 1st purchase then pickup the SD down the line, after all I'll only need a SD Head can use the same shaft.

Something with heavy toe weights, nothing in the heel, an open face, a heavy, stiffer shaft and accompanied by some lessons.

Me neither, low torque, low launch? Sounds like a WB but cheaper!

EDIT;- Sent a message to the seller asking the weight of the shaft. Also had a look through his feedback and sent a message to somebody who has purchased one already asking him how it plays.

I think that was a Hank Kuehne proto thing. I remember seeing those in some r5's back in the day.

I play the SuperTri in a 10.5* with the hosel at the TP setting (between N & R).

My weight set-up is 16 G in toe, 1 in middle, and 4 in heel.

I flip-flop between a Fujikura Motore F1 75X and Speeder 757 X. I would try the Motore F1 in a stiff version.

I rarely hit it left now and it used to be a big problem for me.

Yes-but that's why I have the face set to open. Open face + weight in the heel = faster club head speed through impact. At least in my world I THINK it does...

Weight in the heel means lower moi & easier to miss left.

The one driver I owned that was more anti-left than a R9/Supertri/Superdeep in R with heavy weights in the toe was an Adams 9015D with Speeder 757 X.

supertri has a lot of spin. you might be better off with the original R9 or R9 460 set to NR or R. the 460 is pretty forgiving and cheaper i had more luck with this than the supertri i had. that thing just spun a ton even with the motore f1 and rip 70. but the R9 460 w/ a F1 was money and would do whatever i asked it to and was just as long if not longer than the supertri.
