Whats the story- with all the shaft manufactures? specifically iron shafts

it kinda seems they all just want to make shafts that launch high..

it seems shaft manufacturing is like education- lowest common denominator ....do that many golfer have that much trouble getting the ball Air-born? If so, perhaps our teaching community really needs to get more involved, no? or perhaps shaft makers need to do like womens clothes and make shaft flex like clothes sizing...and simply LIE to the general public - where a 6.0 is really a 5.0...kinda like womens pants size 1 is really a 5?

Or perhaps I'm alone on this journey....as I Don't have any issues getting the ball in the air...but rather I want a iron shaft with less air born qualities, so I can control the ball more with shot making rather than equipment...JAT

Like the newer 'state of the art' KBS brand- super high launch and spin> or the new DG XP- "X" meaning Xtra height and spin> or PX flighted...etc....???

most of the public out there need anti slice bias clubs and softer higher launching shafts
not sure of the number but i would venture 8 to 9 out of 10 golfers out there fit inot this category

I'm with you metalhead! I stick with Dynamic Gold because I don't think there is a lower launching shaft on the market right now. Plus, I learned to play with blades that had v-grooves and weight up high on the head and had to learn to hit down and through everything in order to get the ball high and with spin. Between the LCG weighting of today's clubs (even the musclebacks) and the spin enhancing grooves I have trouble keeping shots at a reasonable height. If I try to "step on" any short irons for a little extra distance they just balloon up even higher and go no further at all.

Have you seen how high the pros hit the ball? There is nothing wrong with high as long as the spin is correct. BTW, KBS are NOT high spin shafts. Played DG for years and thought that was my shaft. Except I spun the beejeezus out of them. My experience with KBS has been great (since getting fit on the Mizzy optimizer). Piercing shots without ballooning. They are definitely not a high spin shaft.

I'm with you to, but the reality for me is my lack of lag is the culprit, and even DG shafts launch high for me.

I also agree that most of the time, high is good, not bad. When you see those trajectory tracings on the pro's shots, they are usually hitting even 3 irons very, very high. But most can control trajectory when they need to.
