What can this guy do to fix his "g-h" move?

Common early extension move
This guy posted on Brady Riggs' blog that he is currently at 115 mph and wanted to know what is holding him back from getting to 125. Brady pointed out that one problem was the fact that he was losing his tush line (aka "goat humping", hence my title), but Brady didn't offer any specific instruction for this guy to fix it. What would y'all suggest? Hopefully the guy doesn't take down his video like many posters on that blog do

Here was Brady's comment: "You have plenty of room to increase your clubhead speed. The issue in your swing is with your posture. Look at your backside during the swing and you will see something interesting happen. As you swing the 50 yard marker that was blocked by your tush at address is completely uncovered at impact. This change in posture or loss of the “Tush line” is a huge power leak in your swing. You should be maintaining contact with the line from set-up to several frames past impact. There are several issues that develop as a result from losing the line, the most significant being there is no room for your right arm to track down in front of your right hip without your arms getting too far away from your body. This happens because your right hip has moved significantly closer to the ball at impact than it was at address. I have done several videos online concerning this subject that would help you."

Maybe I'm wrong but I think his address posture is fine, shoulders may be a bit open though, camera angle needs to be farther left, right through his hands. His lack of depth in the BS I think attributes to him losing his angles in the DS. Take the arms a bit more "in", allowing the right leg to straighten more/ gets more hip turn as a result.

Next, he needs his body to be more forward (towards the target, not the ball) by impact so his arms and club have room to work down instead of out and over. A touch more weight on the left foot at address, keeping the same tilts, may help him get more forward. That'll slow the rate of closure (of the clubface, look how it flips closed), and will change his DS path considerably. It also looks like his head works backwards in the DS, look how long he keeps it looking at the ground; but again that is due to the other things mentioned already. I used to have the same problems in my swing so I know what he is going through.

Not an swing doctor but I play one on tv. Lol I just pay close attention to the best ones on this site and it has helped immensely

It's all about maintaining a low center of gravity and using the ground for power. This particular swing shows a common swing fault, and if he is actually getting his speed up to 115 mph with this fault, I'd be very surprised. If you want to watch someone keep the center of gravity low through impact, Tiger is the best example. The best players let the center of gravity sink in the downswing. However, this requires strength in the legs, hips and core.

To me "goat humping" is a result from a bad perception.

"I must swing inside/out, I must hold the lag."

Since the hips "sliding" toward the target initiates the downswing, those thoughts and thoughts like them will initiate the downswing by thrusting out toward the ball.

A few of my students had some success with picking a target to the left and initiate the hips toward that target.

However, if you just change the perception in your brain to allow the club to release naturally and eliminate the "inside/out" thoughts, goat humping goes away.

EDITED: HOOOOWEVER!!!!!

Maybe I should have watched the video first. I don't think this is a true goat hump. His hips didn't thrust at the ball as much as he straightened his spine. IMO, these are two different things.

Both are loss of tush line, but on this swing, his head pulls off the ball which causes the loss of tush line and not the hips thrusting to the ball.

This one is easier to fix. You need to find a feel that makes sense to the individuals brain....like keep your butt sticking out.

In this case I think his backswing over runs his shoulder turn and forces the pull off to get the club back in front of him.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

If you watch his swing he has the double hump. I mostly agree with chrisgilly09. This guy loses hip flexion up and down. Because he does not load his right hip much and doesn't get enough depth in the backswing (ie. right hip slightly behind the wall or at least on it) - he humps it more coming down to help shallow the driver from a body postion at the top that has lost depth and is moving out towards the ball. Losing the 'back wall" coming down is typically in an effort to shallow the club and get some droop of the clubhead to hit it from the inside.

Needs to start with the cause in the backswing......Needs More Depth of Right Hip.
