2011 Combos for Lefties.....

Cobra,Nike,Mizuno,Titleist???

Alright, once again I'm looking for input from this great site.I'm in yhe market for a set of lefty combos and set will be shafted up with DGSL S300.....

The new Cobra S3 Pro isn't out but none to dis-similar from 08 model....VR Pro combo set is pure eye candy and high on list.... mp68/53 could be a thought or even pseudo retro mp52 as a dark horse....Titleist 735's are some instant classics with the ZB and 710cb/mb as outside choices....

Looking for input towards turf interaction......I'm more of slider/sweeper now with all of the injuries....overall flight(higher the better)a great looking PW and a easy transitional blend of set.

So let's have input and opinions factoring in DG as shaft of choice(albeit lighter version)......put in thoughts on chipping too!!! :clapping:

I regret getting rid of my Titleist ZB's they were the best. I think that Nike offers a great combo set this year, but the MP68/53 my friend is in the process of completing and he is very excited for this years season. Mizuno's irons are buttttta

Are you planning on hitting the 3 and 4 irons? Where do you want to start the blades.

I love the Pro combos except the 3 and 4 - probably the longest iron I've ever hit comparing the same loft and length of shaft.

The Cobras look amazing if they are avail in LH....

Titleist? Combo Ap2 3-5 irons with MBs? (I don't like the MBs way to clicky)

I think the Nikes are the way to go.....

I see that you are a Fire-Medic, so I am thinking extremity and back injuries? How old are you?

What kind of injuries? First place I would go if I was fitting you, where are your physical weaknesses, and what do you shoot? Lessons? Work with anyone?

I'm an old Navy Corpsman and civilian orthopedic surgical tech and your case interests me....

Yes, blades no further than six iron and I will play long irons......normally in the 70's

I love combo sets, and being left handed has made it difficult, to say the least. I currently own the following combo "sets":
[list][*]Titleist ZB[*]Titleist CB/MB[*]Mizuno MP-53/MP-68[*]Nike VR Pro Combo[/list]
Here is some advice. First, pick the blade you like the best. This is very important, as it is the real reason of a combo set. Then find the cavity backs to match the blades. Get a set of these, new or used, probably best on ebay. Shaft does not matter. Reconfirm your commitment to these clubs.

Then buy the blades, in the shaft you will ultimately want. You can get these at Discount Dan's, for example. If you choose 7-PW (my recommendation) you will only be out $450 or so. Then you can experiment on how you match up the set, and ultimately, ether get matching shafts for the CBs you will use, or get a new set, say 3-6, from DD.

If you do it this way you will wind up with exactly what you want plus a second full set of CBs for winter, travel, etc.

OK.....good, no great information...I had a friend at show who hit both Nike and Cobra combos and his thoughts are as follows; Cobra felt great with very thin topline, Nike felt more forgiving with thicker topline

As Dog said the blade portion is the key......Kgeorge,Designdog.....can you guys give me personal preferences on the short irons of the 68's,Pro combos and ZB's? I think the Cobras are gonna win out for me....just something about there blend and finish that attracts me...... I know I can't go wrong with any as long as the shaft is right.... really would like more input on trajectory....not wanting too flat a flight... I can knockdown any club...

2005 hogan ftx lefties best of the best smooth, long, trajectory is great and you MUST be a decent ballstriker to get the benefits. ps they are cheap too.

What about finding some older Mizuno MP60s and 32s and mixing these up as you want. The pictures I have seen of this mixed set always looks clean and look like they are made to go together. Can probably buy 2 complete sets for less than the price of a new set then you can blend them at whatever iron you want and can change the mix depending on how well you are hitting the ball.
