Older Adams Pro DF2400X Compared to Newer Drivers..

What do you think?

I was at my local Golfsmith today, and there is a sweet club that I always love to hit every time I go.. It's the Adams DF2400X that was made a number of years ago. It's 460 CC, which is what I've been looking for - specifically, a larger version of my semi-deep Launcher 400.

I have been eyeing a 909D2 and Ping G15, in 9.5 and 9, respectively, but this thing is SO solid and "thud" sounding that it really has captivated my attention. It's a 9.5* paired with a Motore F3 60 Stiff tipped 1/2", and I think the BBGM is deeper than many heads.

Who has hit this head, and what do you think? Could y'all provide me with feedback and info about this head?

If you like it then go for it, personally, I think the 9064ls is about as good as it gets, maybe not the perfect sound, but everything else is so darn good and the fact that you can find them on ebay for under $200 is crazy

Had one a few years ago and paired it with an Accuflex Creation (Copper ion) X. Was a very nice driver, good feel and hit the ball a long way. Club hoe in me got rid of it, but was a good head. Just the open face for me at the time didn't work well, but that's my swing and trying to get rid of the softball in it.

Had an 8.5 and, as stated above, had a wonderful muted sound and feel. I got rid of it because I am a Ho. Sigh...

The only problem was that I could only hit it into the net. There's a good distance between hitting and the netting - maybe 10 yards or so - so there was enough to see the flight, but not much more. I would love to try it on the course versus my driver!

It's a little on the open side, isn't it? Pretty low spinning? If so, the Motore F3 might be a good combo to keep the spin decent enough.

Timely thread. I was looking for an older "BTY" on Ebay and came across a 10.5 with the stock YSQ. I ended up winning the auction at $28. For a squarish head it is not bad looking. Funny thing is, the look reminds me of my old Launcher 400 as well. I cant wait to hit it...

There is not that much info on the web concerning the XTD Pro (exception being an older 18 page thread on golfwrx). So how does this head stack up compared to: 9015, 9032 LS, 9064, etc in terms of spin, launch angle, and forgiveness?

Well, I have hit the 9015, but only into a net. The 9015 felt nice and is much more traditionally shaped than the 2400, and it doesn't have as deep of a face. I did look through a little bit of the long thread, and should probably reread parts of it.

What really drew me to this driver is the sound and feel - when purely struck, the ball seems to come off on a really hot trajectory and the sound is AMAZING. Purely amazing. Almost sounds like a tour driver (i.e. hotmelt, etc). AND, I do have to mention - without giving a full commitment into the ball, it just doesn't pop.

I would like to try this out on the course, but I don't like 60 gram shafts, no matter how nice. 70 grams is almost a must for me, and I think 10 grams of lead tape would change the weight distribution too much..

My Adams 9 degree DF4200X is still my gamer. Love the sound and ball flight. It's also a great driver if you fight a hook (like me!). I'm the type of guy that once I find a club I trust, it stays in the bag until I feel like it's not performing. While I haven't directly compared it to the newer drivers, the only guys outdriving me with newer drivers are the guys that would outdrive me with just about anything ...

I have a 9.5 head with the YSQ shaft. The head is very solid. I also have the 9015 head with a saga shaft. I seem to hit the xtd pro better. i think the shaft is a better fit for me. The face, I believe, it more closed that the 9015. I may swap the shafts and see if there the YSQ is a better fit for the 9015.[quote name='pdaero' timestamp='1296268079' post='2933710']
