I'm so glad to see supporting opinions of Iacas on TST, to know it wasn't just me. I actually got into their 'elite' club, I think it was a sub-forum called 'The Locker Room', where pretty much all they would do is bash other members. Then, one day I disagreed with Iacas over something about the putting stroke, and he turned on me real fast, so I left.

Then, I went to THP, and like Module said, it is mainly a bunch of guys chatting as if they were having their own little PM conversations, making you feel like you're talking to yourself.

Here at WRX folks are knowledgeable and engaging. WRX forever!

Edit: Plus, only WRX has the likes of MtlJeff, Matt the Taff, and Peanuts Daddy

I wish WRX would do more tourney's. We are very poor with the meet ups. With the 10yr anniversary less than 3 months away I can't believe we haven't heard more about some big events. The site owners could tap into our industry folks more and do some better events for us. Giveaways are great, but playing together, seeing people on the course. That is how you make real friends, learn about others game, etc.

I def agree. They should have regional WRX get togethers. It is tough for 1 or 2 members trying to do so on their own, arranging all the logistics. It is like herding cats. But WRX could manage the logistics much easier. They could have an automated sign-up page where participants dump all their info, make arrangements with the courses, and assign tasks to individual WRX members. They can also invite sponsor support and activities..

The THP also in my opinion does a poor job of reviewing products. They basically have one main man doing reviews and at any giving time, he will have several products to review. I am not sure how you can give each product the time they deserve when he has so many to do. Plus, that individual will post something and you get four pages of other members acting like he just wrote the next great literary works of all time. Very time consuming.

This site just seems to be straight forward. Very much to the point. The reviews are filled with facts and numbers. On THP, you get someone's opinion and a response like " this is a good effort and can tell the company (Mizuno) is on their way of being better. All I want to know is numbers and how they compare to what you are hitting now. Don't be afraid to say one company is better than a company that sponsors one of their outings.

OK... I am feeling better now.

Thp is all marketing what I see. And just nonstop events, no forum and no instruction area at all. Kinda lame

What about shot talk ? Or golf revolution ?
[/quote]

I am on THP too and I played in an event 3 weeks ago. I will say this, I met 15 GREAT guys and all of them are very loyal to that site as well about meeting other people to play golf with. We played an awesome course and guys were from all over N.E. and 3 guys from NE New York came too. These guys travel all over the country to play with other guys.

As for the reviews on the products, I agree they are lacking. To ME, at the end of the day you chose a forum that fits your needs. I am also on 4GEA which is a small niche site but has been around for like 15yrs. I have made more friends on that site than any other one. Most of the guys come to this one as well. I met a couple of guys on the old BSG as well but they left during the "Todd era". and never went back.

Ok, I agree. It is all about these year long get togethers on THP. If you can't attend, than that site is really a waste of time. Looks like a lot of fun I guess, but real cheesy how they focus on that all the time

I am a WRXer 'to the bone'. I've 'met' do many genuine, knowledgeable and engaging members in this Forum. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but I'd call some of them friends.

I will add that PutterTalk is a fabulous forum that is populated with many amazingly passionate golf fans. The site was slow when I joined (after a few failed attempts), but the place is a font of knowledge. It's fun to read through the sub-forums and back threads. I hope to continue to make connections at 'PT' as the site owners and moderators attempt to rebuild the site.

Edit: a disclaimer. You may purchase a few putters if you become an active member in a putter forum. Not that I'm speaking from experience ; )

I haven't been to the Sand Trap since 2008, and it's solely because of that Iacas guy. I made the mistake of thinking his website was a forum where one could have an opinion. That guy is just awful, very full of himself.

But, looking at the positives, it was because I got so disgusted with Iacas that I left and decided to come here. So thanks Iacas, thanks for pushing me away to a much better place.

I was on thp for over a year, and it really just wreaks of people seeking all the attention they get. They literally put up their whole lives for viewing. When they wake up /eat/crap .. Everything. Almost like a bad reality show, so disturbing and everyone calls each by their first names. Taking about their kids family ..etc... And just interrupting every thread into a pm session. Again / bizarre-disturbing-attention deprived posters. They than travel the whole nation to stay in the attention deprived clique. Only responses ever received were from a negative post criticizing their events or ideals. If you just post on there expect to talk to yourself unless you throw your whole life at them in a sick attention deprived atmosphere... Freaky weird

Shot talk has its moments but seems so quiet now . But has some great old threads and members

What a bunch of BS Peterich.

You are still on THP, post all the time, and post exactly the kind of stuff on there you claim in the above post is what you don't like.

As for this site, you were banned, rightly so, no idea how you got back here, for pretending to be someone else so you could take phoney lessons and then rip into Dan and Monte, among other things, then post a videotape of yourself telling EVERYONE ON THIS SITE to F off.

Sorry, no way you get away with this nonsense. Still bizarre and making stuff up. Just weird.

This is simply not true. You still post multiple times a day on THP, mostly about personal drama. You have trashed this site on other sites, and pretended to be a student of Dan and Monte so you could then bash them and tell everyone on this site to ______ off, which you did on video posted here, Peterich, not all that long ago.

These are facts, not opinions, and folks deserve to know them given all the issues caused.

Came here from TST, no comment. Having said that, what got me looking over here was initially the equipment, club techs and instruction forums which were far and away better than anything out there. Lots of good and interesting info you couldn't find anywhere else. I was spending more time lurking here rather than spending time in the other site anyway so just quit going there. Lots of good people on here, not fair to try and list them by name so I won't. If you can't find your niche in here for content you aren't trying hard enough.

Just to add to this . . .

We find what we want in a site. The good, bad, and ugly exist in every on-line location (including WRX unfortunately). I don't like to bash other sites, because: a) I don't have enough experience to comment, b) I'm certain there are engaging members there as well, c) I'm just not built that way. There is enough of that 'garbage' to fill a few dumpsters already.

Speaking of good guys!

Thanks for the kind words, and your always positive contributions and especially for taking the lead the last two years with Monte's clinics - that's a lot to take on. The decks are cleared for Chicago this Spring!KC was great.

Although I think the posts were fair game for a number of reasons, probably best not to revisit past issues with one bad apple, especially in a thread celebrating the site.

To loosely quote Waylon and Willie in regard to other sites, "they ain't wrong, they're just different."

I've never attended (or organized) one of Monte's clinics, but if I did if probably stay at a Holiday Inn Express (or a Double Tree as I love their cookies). You are still the same good guy and I always enjoy what you have to say (love folks that "get" golf and kids, among other things) but I confess in typing on my phone at work (two different sources of anxiety) I was also thinking of Parmark for some reason and did a little transposing, LOL. If "p" had something to do with it may have been influenced by what created the opportunity for posting. ;-)
