Gulph Mills GC in KoP, PA

Any members of GMGC here on WRX?

Hello to anyone who is a member at Gulph Mills Golf Club.

I have been in search of a sponsor to play this course for many years and have yet to find a member willing to sponsor me to play this spectacular track. I live in KoP and GMGC is on the nose an even a mile from my home.

My interest in locating a member on GWRX is to ask for your assistance in becoming a playing member or to obtain any type of other association that would allow me to play this historic facility. Tired of playing the 3 courses closest in proximity located in Norristown and would love to play somewhere closer. My work & family responsibilites do not lend to playing anywhere further away at many of the top courses in MontCo.

I will kindly ask that you PM with any information you can provide so that I can learn more about this true gem of Philly Golf history.

I am a registered PGA Member(Amatuer)carrying a HCap of 0.6

I am not a member at this course, but I find it very inappropriate and self-centered to post this, and I think you need to reconsider you posting this...
As a member of a private golf club, I would feel used and angry if someone asked me in such a way...
thats just my opinion, but over at GCA i know many feel the same, and people are members of even the best courses in the world there
-you are basically saying that your tired of playing inferior courses, and so you want someone to get you on a very good course so you can reap the benefits of their membership

My intent is to become a member at GMGC but I do need help getting my name in as applicant and this is not to piggy back a current member so I can attain an Amateur status to the Philadelphia Golf Assoc. As for the "inferior" course reference, you should not be making any quips or jabs of being self-centered. Do you not belong to a private club portraying the idea that you have an "inferiority" issue to those courses of which you say I have a problem with?

You make mention that members of your Club are so gentlemanly that they have to be members of many overly expensive Clubs divulging that they themselves as well as you are not "Self-Centered" and your concern of "Social Standing" is of little importance. As for your opinion, I thank you for being honest but you did not READ the posting. This is a request of Proximity for reasons of convenience. My wife was released of her employment last Christmas, working 2 jobs while she attends Drexel School of Medicine leaves me to find a balance. Finding time to play and perform my duties as a proud parent without interference to either is my goal. So open your eyes and read before you speak! Your assumption of my intent is telling of your monolithic ignorance to my request. Your high and mighty attitude fails to give me guidance!

I have only played Gulph Mills once, and that was a few years ago with an elderly member who has sinced passed away. It struck me as being a pretty old-school club, like the one of the few these days that doesn't need members and doesn't care if you want in. I would think that getting into GM would be on par with getting into Merion in that you would have to have some serious, well-forged connections.

They don't even have a website, that says a lot.

The good thing is that there are many other fine clubs in the area with easier chances for admission.
