Need some ideas from everyone!

I have a mission trip coming up in June

Hey everybody!

I have a three week mission trip that I will be going on in June to St. Lucia to help after the hurricane that came through a few months ago, and I have to figure out some ideas for fundraising that might help me get to the point.. The trip runs about $1500 for each person from my team to go and so I have to figure out some unique ideas that I can use to raise money (currently have raised about $500 from friends and family woohoo!). I figure that there are people on here that might have some good ideas on how to raise money and so I thought that I might ask for some ideas on what I could do. For anyone here who might have it in their heart, I just ask that you pray for the safety of the team in our travels and that we can help to make a positive impact in the world. It has always been on my heart to go somewhere and so with me finally graduating, I figure it would be a great time for me to take the opportunity and help out the less fortunate. Well assuming you go to a church, for my churches mission trip funding we usually do like a brunch right after church. Have people from the church bring in dishes for the brunch, then for 10$ + any money that the people want to donate, they get a delicious buffet.

Last time we did it we got around 800$

I do attend a church yes, it seems like a good idea to try as long as they will be willing to let us do that. Thanks for the input!

My daughter has gone on a mission for the last 2 years. This year she is leading a mission to Romania through an organization called Global Outreach. This is all associated with her college.

They raise funds through friends and family, church, bake sales. They also go out in the dead of night and sell sandwiches near the local college bars.

Most times your church will let you speak to the congregation about your mission during mass and they would probably allow a collection towards your goal.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to help others. Your parents must be proud.

you could send support letters to friends and family who haven't given financially. they do no t need to be christians, just friends who might be willing to donate to your missions trip. i did this when i went on a missions trip to haiti in 2007 and you will be suprised at how much people are willing to lend a hand when asked.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I have tried sending a letter to my church, as I am in Kansas and well it isn't very easy for me to get back to Chicago for just two days seeing as I have school and practice and all. I have also tried sending mail to everyone I know (regardless of if they are Christian or not) but it seems to be a slow year :/. Anyways.. I appreciate all of your help in thinking of ideas because any help is better than no help!
