It's funny to see folk mention that they would buy a car if it had golf clubs thrown in. However, if you have almost $100K to spend on a car, shouldn't you be able to buy some clubs?

I could have missed something.

If you bunch of car snobs are quite finished sneering down your nose as you type, can you please take my daily driver...5 year old Mazda 3 w/150k off my hands and hand me the keys to just about any of the above listed vehicles? Thanks, that'd be super.
Zoom Zoom Zoom....

I'd rather have your car than the insurance premiums on any of the above.
My insurance premium is $1100 per year for two, let me say that again, "2" prized rides that go 190mph... I've managed, thanks to a radar detector, to stay under the speed limits when needed, NO TICKETS - and not get in any accidents "my whole life"... Am I lucky or what ..
$1100 per year combined premium for a Carrera GTS and a G3?! Your insurance company may want to check their algorithms.

We went from an Escalade to a Lexus GX470 for the wife. What a POS. Probably the worst SUV we have ever owned.
The engineering is terrible. Anybody who owns a newer lexus cannot say they enjoy the radio / climate control or it's a lie.
The HUGE side hinged rear door? Useless rear seats that take up so much room i can't fit my clubs....

The GX 470 is a POS. So is my father in laws LS coming from a CTS-V.

The days of the Japanese / European cars so much better than the American cars is over................

p.s. Pepperturbo has a Porsche - 2 of them. p.p.s - My ZR1 Will blow the doors off Peppers Porsche!

haha all for fun but really turbo my car is much better than yours. Too bad it was a short team lease and the dream is over now!!!

p.p.p.s. - My Lexus is a Piece of crap.
I hate to tell you this , but your GX470 is just a 4runner
It's place in the line-up is only for people who look down their nose at anything but the a luxury vehicle. Just like the ES is just a fancy camry.
We are Talking about the LS here , the flagship of the Company.
It is Superior to both of it's competitors in engineering, Technology, Build quality, Crash Management, reliability ,maintence Costs and about every other category you can think of.
The tolelerences are tighter, the fit and Finish is Beter, the NVH is lower, the cabin is quieter..and 10 years from now the residual value will be higher.
Just google the s550 problems ..transmission issues , mechanical failure, trim falling off, body creaking....it goes on for 10 pages.
Not to mention that lexus customer service is second to none.
Our Lexus dealer has a golf simulator in the lounge so you can play 18 while you wait for your oil to get changed. Or maybe you want to go upstairs to Ruth's Chris and grab a bite
If they were slangin low end junk they sure wouldn't have digs like that.

Ps.ps.ps.pssss
I guarantee your wife and kids are safer in that GX than they were in the escalade...
Go ahead and check out the crash tests on the IIHS website, it will make you feel better about that P.O.S you own :)

since when do sports cars make money?

Toyota/Lexus makes way more money selling Camry's and Corolla's then they do on the LF-A & IS-F combined

the LF-A is a pride thing for Toyota and Japan. To my knowledge it is the first production car out of japan to use a full carbon fiber body, and the first Japanese super car. It was not meant to be a money maker for Toyota.

The GT-R on the other hand is a great car, but its not a super car and it does make Nissan loads of money. Even though its just a G35 with twin turbo's and a high tech 4 wheel drive system. It still uses the same weak front frame rails as the G35, the same plastic radiator support, and the same suspension geometry.

The GT-R is an awesome car for what it is, but comparing the GT-R to an LF-A, is like comparing an Audi S4 to a Ferrari 599 GTO.

you can talk all day long about how your M3 is just as fast in the turns, and how your corvette is just as fast in a strait line.
But in my opinion, super cars are on a totally different level.
Ok, so it's okay that a $350,000 - 400,000 car is slower around the world's ultimate test track than a car 1/3 the price, or better yet can't pull out of a corner as quickly as a car 1/8 the price, because the carbon fiber body and ultra high tech parts and super sweet sounding engine--with no torque at all--makes it a super car. I'm still confused and am kinda beginning to think maybe Snake Eyes forged irons really may be as good as Miuras based on this marketing logic...

My head hurts now...
well the prostitute on the corner will satisfy you in all the same ways Angelina Jolie could, but that still doesn't make her Angelina Jolie

see my point?

The LF-A is a great car and super car, so are many others.

But comparing a super car to a sports car is like comparing a chrysler 300 to a Phantom
sure they both have power windows, power locks, a/c, drive you from point A to point B, but there is a difference, a big difference

no lexus will ever be superior to my dads s65 AMG. that car is just a rocket, and the most comfortable car to drive/ sit in.

And to the guy that says you have to be short to drive a 3 series. im 6'0 195 and I fit just fine.

Well the idiot author and his condescending "middle manangement" remark, I would love to see his toys. What a putz. Remember moron, if you have to talk about it, you probably don't have it. And FWIW, to all the German lovers out there, I just watched my neighbor take his beloved CLS in for $2400 oil changes for 18 months until he finally unloaded that glorified Chrysler. Can't speak on BMW, never driven one, but I would take a high end Lex over Mercedes any day. It IS laughable. If you have not driven both, don't comment. Nice friendly thread BTW.

No, you're just an old f***, therefore lower insurance rates.

Yep - I am an ole f*** but so is my buddy and he pays 5k for 2 cars as well; neither of which is remotely close in performance or replacement / repair price range. Now, lets see if your adolescent brain knows why that is. Apparently you didn't get the memo, age has very little to do with car insurance, except for adolescents. :)

Hi mate, Im the idiot author.

I was just having a bit of fun. Not sure what it's like in the U.S but I'm an Englishman now living in Australia and in both countries, it seems to be commonly accepted that it takes a certain kind of person who chooses a Lexus over any of the competition.

As for me, you're right. I'm currently driving a company Saab 93 but if they'd offered me a Lexus, I would've taken it. Doubt I'd spend my own money on one though.

Had to look up putz because I had no idea what it meant.

It's either the American tradition of creating decorative, miniature-scale villages often set up during the Christmas season.

My apologies to anyone in middle management currently driving a Lexus. Can't argue with the build quality but they are completely soulless.

well for 1, since the topic went this way, a lexus is just a toyota with a nicer interior. the technology in the cars are under the same umbrella. anyway...

2. i guess it works for callaway to join up with a car company... why not. lexus has been a major sponsor in the game of golf for YEARS...

Believe it or not, some people here actually CAN hit the driver 300. I'm not an average-size guy though.....I'm 6'7 and have 121 clubhead speed. While that doesn't mean a darn thing as it relates to what good golf is REALLY about (scoring), if you would like to come to Houston and put some money where your mouth/posts are....come on down.

Don't feel bad if you can't hit it long....Luke Donald is #3 in the world hitting it 275 and missing almost every fairway.

I drive a 2006 IS250. It is a 204 HP V6, auto, RWD entry level car for Lexus. 0-60 is about 8.5 seconds and the handling is not sports sedan level, but better than the ES line. I do get about 33 mph hwy on 93 octane gas. It is not even considered a "luxury" car by my insurance. It is boring, boring, boring if compared to BMW 3s or Merc Cs. When I bought it in December of 2005 I was just getting rid of my third GM car in a row and wanted something more reliable and long lasting. I really did not care about performance but wanted something nice that got good gas milage. I got my IS250 for about $9000 less than a BMW 3 series and about $11,000 cheaper than a Merc C class when optioned out the same. Five years and 52,000 miles later my Lexus is still running great and is still in almost new condition. With normal care and maintenance I have had only the CD player to malfunction. The leather interior is in excellent condition. The suspension is a taught as when it was new. The engine runs just like new. I don't have any rattles or strange noises, unlike I had in my previous GM cars before their warranties ran out. For what I bought my Lexus for, it has been excellent.

Now I just have to find a set of clubs that perform like my Lexus!

Simmer down, Uncle Rico... I don't think I'll spend good money just to fly to Houston to watch you throw that football over those mountains or win the State Championship game... I never said I can't hit the ball long, by the way...I'm just not the type of insecure guy who feels the need to post his inflated stats so he can feel good about himself. Sure you do..... It's always easy to hit 300 yd drives behind a key board....

But if that helps you sleep at night, to each it's own....
No of course not.

YOU are the insecure guy that needed to crap on a thread about nice cars because you are either jealous or just a clown.

Like I said, don't be a hater just because other guys have a nicer car than you. It really isn't that important in the scheme of things. :ok:

Well the idiot author and his condescending "middle manangement" remark, I would love to see his toys. What a putz. Remember moron, if you have to talk about it, you probably don't have it. And FWIW, to all the German lovers out there, I just watched my neighbor take his beloved CLS in for $2400 oil changes for 18 months until he finally unloaded that glorified Chrysler. Can't speak on BMW, never driven one, but I would take a high end Lex over Mercedes any day. It IS laughable. If you have not driven both, don't comment. Nice friendly thread BTW.

couldn't agree more, the rule in this thread should be if you want to tell us you have it, go to your garage and take a picture for us. some of these comments are ridiculous.

Couldn't agree LESS.

#1, Don't get your panties in a bunch Herky, the OP was just being a smarta$...and I'm sure he meant no harm. A bit sensitive are we?

#2, I don't need to see anyone's garage photos. If you say you have a Porsche or a Vette...I believe you. Good grief.

And I'm sure as hell not taking a photo of my s-class and posting it. :russian_roulette: I post photos of my custom ninja LaMont Mann putters here :ninja: but that is about all.

yeah ive hung around golfwrx way too long to believe everything i read. for someone with an "s class" and "121 miles per hour clubhead speed" you sure spend a lot of time posting on golfwrx at 2am.

Well, if those two relatively common items are special enough for you to question (or think someone would bother to lie about  )....then you've obviously still got a LOT to see and learn.

And is the guy with nearly a THOUSAND posts in only SIX months really telling me that I post too much?? :cheesy:

cheesy.gif pulling the seniority card again? keep in mind all of your posts are there for the world to see, and what i see is a bunch of nonsense claims and a whole lot of starting arguments. im not telling you that you post too much, im telling you i dont see the value in all of the instigating at four in the morning.

as far as those "common items" go, im calling out your BS. oh, and ill pass to the invite to the public track in houston, thanks.

What is a "seniority card" and who is "pulling it out again?

I did point out that you are posting at the rate of about 2,000 posts per year....and yet felt the need to comment on MY "posting alot at 2am". I did find that comment to be rather strange.

Maybe you are just a real young guy with lots of time on your hands. Nothing wrong with that I guess.

FYI, I only "call out" the really ignorant comments I come across....so congratulations for making that list.

I guess by commenting on what car I drive (in a thread about cars), what clubs I use (in threads about clubs), and what some of my swing specs are (when some guy ignorantly states that anyone saying they hit driver 300 or more MUST be lying)..... must qualify in your mind as a "bunch of nonsense claims". OK, whatever you say.

I guess I should try harder to make sure that you "see more value" in my future posts. I'll get right on that.

Thanks also for letting me know that you are now "calling out my BS". GolfWRX is lucky to have you keeping everyone in check.

Finally, who said anything about inviting you anywhere...public or private? I don't recall that. :nea:
