hit them all at golf galaxy. just want some opinions from outsiders. which would be good for a guy shooting around 79 who has a mid/low ballflight?

Love the looks of all of them, and would imagine all of them will play roughly the same. I think you pick the one that you are most comfortable looking down at.

PX comes standard on the RAZR forged. If you are a PX player, that will save you roughly 10-15$ a club.

IMO, the VR Pro Combos are the nicest looking, but man, do you need game to play them. The AP2 and the RAZR are very easy to hit by comparison. I'd be on the fence between the two of those if you have any doubts about your ability with irons.

Hmmm.... I didn't see AP2 in your initial post, but I have hit all of the four you have listed. I have the MP63s in the bag and would highly recommend them. People will say that they are unforgiving, but if you play to a 79 that should not be an issue. One of the guys in my Saturday foursome (7 handicap) played them last weekend and he will be ordering a set as well.

The Titleist CBs are good, and you can't go wrong with Titleist, but I would play the AP2s or the MBs before I put the CBs in the bag. AP2s are a pretty consistent (forgiving) set of sticks.

VR Combo - nothing wrong with them at all, but I have a set of the VR blades and I think they are just as easy to hit as the Combos (including the long irons). I cannot comment too much on the Combos, but they get a lot of good pub on here.

Callaway had a demo day at the local driving range last week and I hit a small bucket of balls with the 6-irons of both the Razr Forged and the Razr X Tour. As a caveat I want to mention that I have gamed both the '07 and '09 X-Forged and the X-Protos, because I have to say that the Razr Forged didn't feel good, it didn't sound good, it was a club shorter than both my 63s and the Razr X Tours, and it just felt "clunky". That said, I had just the opposite impression of the Razr X Tour - I walked away thinking that that set of sticks was going to make it into my bag before the summer is out - and if you end up looking at the AP2s look at those as well (and save some $$).

Of course, those are just my opinions. You hit them all at Golf Galaxy, hopefully that gave you an idea of what is best for your game.

razr x tour I really liked. I went into the demo with a pre conceived notion that I would hate them...pleasantly surprised for feel, forgiveness. All other are quality no doubt but the combo of this head and the DGS300 (huge fan of) just works. Hit them all again several times...eventually one will click as being the best but give this club a serious look. Good luck.

Go for the 63's! You might even want do a +5 to those 63s, turning them into some 68s! I don't see a whole big difference in forgiveness in the 63s compared to the 68s, but the feel and feedback in the 68s are much more noticeable. Otherwise, yeah the 63's are some great mizzy sticks, and would be my second pick after the 68s. In the end it's your decision and it seems like you might be swaying towards the 63s despite what others are saying anyways.

i play the 68 but i am a junior golfer playing tournaments. feel like there is a psychological aspect when it comes to having a cavity back vs a blade. i feel like i am getting more help and therefore do not feel like i have to worry about my swing. its all psychological. thx

VR Pro Combo's, find the shaft that fits you the best tho, but the feel is amazing and the 3 and 4 irons launch like rockets. and when i say the feel is amazing i'm in titletown country hitting balls into the frozen tundra.

another vote for AP2, more forgiving of a players/game improvement iron for someone in the high 70 or low 80's

I can only comment on the 63s and the AP2s. The AP2s are noticable more forgiving but the 63s are better performing especially in the low irons. Don't be afraid of a mizuno combo set (can't speak for combo sets of other manufactures). I play the 52s and p-8 32s. I am also a jr golfer for whatever that's worth

If you have mid/low ballflight I'd have to recommend the AP2 as well. Seemed like the harder I swung the higher it went. Got good numbers with it and really didn't even want to like it. I couldn't hit the CB's. Something about them just didn't agree with my swing. Hit the 63's and they were decent but I didn't hit them as consistent as I hit the 68's. Haven't hit the RAZR xforged but I have the 09 xforged and they're not for me. Could be a shaft issue though. I flat out loved the 68's and AP2's in KBS stiff.

Mp-63 with kbs are amazing.
Which kbs shaft would you recommend in order to get a higher ball flight
i tried the MP63 in DG and the head was awesome but i hit it way too low. how was the ballflight in the KBS?
