There's a REALLY good reason for that, too. We love playing the best irons on earth, and are smart enough to ignore all the gimmicks. Give me steel...pure, forged, delicious steel...over anything cast or slapped together any day. I doubt i will ever play any other irons or wedges.

I can't stand it when players use different headcovers. It's like they're trying to trick us. We all know by now that Wilson can't make a driver that Padraig or Ricky like. Bridgestone can't make a driver that Freddy likes. And Mizuno can't make a driver that Luke likes. I realize it must be in their contracts, but it would be nice if they could keep it real. Or put a frickin elephant or some other animal on it.

I have heard this as well... interesting, though, wouldn't the standard specs be a little long/upright for a 5'9" guy??

I would agree with you on this.

 

As far as quality tuned steel in golf irons goes it gets no better. Consider these irons a change from the finest wrapped steel in Japanese samurai blades to Japanese golf irons. To actually control the flow of the grains in the steel bar that is stamped into the shapes they designed proves to be awesome in a how a dual muscle iron can feel as smooth as a competitors blade.

 

 

Also in the Mizuno websites videos, Luke Donald actually states that he will stick with the 62'a as the change in center of gravity to the 68's would change his bal flight more than he would like. He has been working very hard at the game he has now proving so in the Accenture Match Play.

Mizuno are a tad shorter & flatter than - for example - Taylor Made.
Every manufacturer has a slightly different "standard".
I was 2 degrees flat with TM & I'm off the shelf Mizuno at 5'7"

Donald is a great putter - but I don't see him challenging for the Masters with his lack of length.
I reckon the green jacket goes to Kaymer or Casey this year.

True, except there are the tour issue S300's. While playing the same flex, they are much tigher with virtually no variation from iron to iron.

With std S300's one iron could nearly be R300, while another one could be close to S400. Not all S300's sets are out by that much, but if you are unlucky to have one then it is really noticable
