I do NOT believe there is an answer, as no ball, that I am aware of, has ever been tested to find that answer. Excessive spin is not only based upon grooves, but impact and underlying turf conditions.

Well, not really "today's" ball, but the Nike One Platinum spins more for me than anything else, and you can still find them for sale many places. I always keep a box laying around for really firm fast conditions where my only concern becomes stopping the ball. Normally I prefer something with less spin off the driver though.

Pretty sure Golf digest did a partial wedge spin test and there wasn't all that much difference for most of the top end balls. I believe the ProV1 , Z-star, Nike Tour were the spinniest, and from my experience they are.

Agreed. There are too many swing variables to have a definitive answer. My advice to the OP...try all the high spinning urethane balls for your self and use what works best for your swing.

P.S. These generic "highest spinning" or "longest off the tee" threads should be outlawed.

Which ball out of the current offering lineup would you say is the spinniest ball for chips and pitches regardless of price and its long game performance?
[/quote]
The Penta spun the most for me. Too much really. ProV1 a close second. Still too much

I'll stick with the ZStar action. Easier to predict :good:

AMEN!
I guess we have to remember that novice golfs must learn thruths somehow. The problem being... other Novices are giving them incorrect answers , false data, and inaccurate opinions.

lol. No two balls are exactly the same. By nature, some will spin more than others. I can back up a ProV1 and i(s) better than other balls, so I answered accordingly. How is this a novice response? Some might argue that unless you are an elite pro, you fall in the "novice" category along with the rest of us.

We've heard you over and over again Mr. Golf Ball.
You answer the question and we can all just go and buy the ball that YOU say is the best for around the green.

OK?
Fab- We'll be waiting.

TM TP Black. Yikes... maybe too much.

I have found the TP Black to have a lot of spin around the greens for myself, I used to love that ball!

You are correct, none are exact matches. However you, nor I, nor a Pro, can tell the difference between 5400 rpm and 5800 rpm.
People, many who play 6 times a year, come in and post that this or that ball is 15 yards longer, or spins 3 times as much, and its simply not true.
All quality name brand golf balls go relatively the same distances (within 2.5% of each other). The greater difference between balls is not distance, nor is it spinning backwards on landing...its the flight path of the ball from point A to point B.

I agree. However, the OP asked for opinions and that is exactly what I provided, as did others. I don't think that qualifies a "novice" accusation from you.

I agree the one platinums spin like crazy. I get a lot more spin out of them than the prov's or the penta (which I HATE) If you can still find some of these buy them and give them a try
