Do the weights alter the spin?
Basically, I'm trying to make it as low spin as possible. I realize that the heavier weight in the toe makes it favor a fade and heavier in the heel makes it favor a draw, but is the backspin affected at all?

How about the sole plate affecting spin? I'm pretty sure this changes nothing but the address appearance?

Am I right in thinking that if I crank the FCT all the way to "lower", it will be as low spin as it can get, regardless of where I put the sole plate or weights?

Sole plate doesnt effect spin at all. I get a better ball flight with the weights 10 in the toe and 1 in the hell. Haven't gotten spin numbers though.

At least per the tour stats with different settings/combinations, the 10 in the toe and 1 in heel, as well as the face open, produced the lowest spin without changing the shafts.

On another note, has anyone been able to compare the different available TP shafts in it, notably the Kai'li series?

By the way, happy golfing my fellow Aggie from Houston!

Shivan, you're saying my spin numbers would increase? That's the complete opposite of how TaylorMade markets it and everything else I've read. I found some info on the TM website stating that each 0.5* lower should decrease spin by 250rpms and vice versa for an increase in loft (closing face angle) increasing spin by 250rpms for each half degree.

Good to see another Aggie on here!

Haven't tried the Kai'li specifically in the R11, but I have a Callaway with a Kai'li and it's a great shaft.

The thing that is going to cause the spin numbers to go up is the fact that setting FCT to lower opens the face by 2*, and the open face is going to increase the risk of a fade, which increases backspin. However if you can get the club back to square at impact, then yes your spin numbers will drop. Use the ASP after setting FCT to lower to square the face back up. FCT will open the face by 2*, and setting the ASP to its C setting closes the face by 2*. So this will get it back to square at address. Hope this makes sense.

Not a problem. I am pretty much in the same boat when it comes to spin rates, and when I hit one at a demo a couple weeks ago that's what the rep had me hitting. I initially had it at 8*, but was pushing everything. Since I normally turn the club over I would have never thought to set it "closed", but once he did that I started drilling the shots. Needless to say I just had to wait till I got paid, and now one is in the mail.

I have hit the R11 with a 70 gram Kai'li stiff flex from the fitting cart and it felt really good! Lower launch than the stock Blur. Didn't feel bad swingweight wise, but I play a 75 gram Motore F1..so used to this weight. I think the 60 gream RIP is too light...waiting for more shafts to hit the cart.

Anyone try putting different weights in vs the stock 10g and 1g? I'm wondering myself how heavier and lighter weight combinations would effect spin rate numbers and playability. Like putting a 10 in the heel and a 16 in the toe? Or maybe a 12 in the heel and 6 on the toe? Anbody try it yet?

There is a pretty extensive thread about this and Super Deeps. I am assuming it would be the same story.

To Lower Spin- Move the FCT to Lower (2 deg open) will give you -500 rpms, you can get spins up to +500 (2 deg closed)

The fitting guide does not give numbers on moving the weights and spin but I have found keeping the heavy weight out on the toe lowers spin 250-300 rpms typically.

The sole plate is so the player can get the 'look" to fit his eye....No effect on spin.

HouAggie has it right.
