thinking of getting 910 d3 over R11 tp

what do you guys think

So Im thinking of getting the Titleist 910 d3 over the R11 tp. The R11 tp is 100 more than the D3 for one and Ive noticed at dicks sporting goods that the white paint chips easily on the crown from being on the rack. What do you guys think? I mean why is the R11 tp 100.00 dollars more, 499 is just way too much. They are both the same cc's at 440 so should be about the same forgiveness.

also what do you think is the best shaft to get with the 910, looking for low/mid shaft.

yea I was thinking of the project x but its 73 grams, so is the ahina. Ive always used 65 grams shafts so I dont know how it would feel to me. I swing about 100 mph with driver.

8 grams won't make a ton of difference. May even slow your swing down and make better connection. Would definitely go with the D3. This whole white paint thing is a fad, I bet the D3 will hold better resale value as well.

yea i think the white driver thing is kinda cool but I really love an all black driver head. also didnt care for how easily the paint chips on the heads of those new taylormades, theres no protective clear coat on them, im sure this is going to be a condition problem when used ones start going to for sale.

Im going to have to drive somewhere to test out some shafts on them. No local shop has them with launch montitors.

I really wouldn't worry about the paint chipping problem if I were you. I work at a Sports Authority, So I know the savages that frequent retail stores, and for that reason all my new Taylormades are still wrapped in the plastic when on the rack, and the one uncovered R11 I have had since launch day is still in great shape. Now I know that the kind of person intelligent enough to be on WRX would take care of their clubs. I think that if you keep the headcover on it when you aren't hitting it you should have no problem with it chipping unless you totally sky one. That being said, hit both and see what works the best for you. I'll probably catch all kinds of nonsense from all the shaft tinkerers for saying this, but I actually kind of liked the Blur 60 that comes on the non-TP version of the R11. My usual spin-rates with most stock shafts are nearly unplayable for my headspeed. 3500 RPM+ @ 100 MPH. But for some reason I had the stock blur launching around 2400 RPM.

I hit both on a Flightscope launch monitor. Got almost identical swing speeds, launch angle and spin rates. The D3 had the stock stiff Ahina and the R11 had an xstiff Proforce V2. Can't go wrong w/ either one so go w/ the cheaper one.

For the record, I had the exact same experience on the launch monitor with the two sticks as Moses. It was either 910D3 w/RIP 60 X or R11 w/Blur TP X. I went with TM just because they had it in stock in X and the Titleist had to be ordered. I don't think one will out perform the other. I think it comes down to look/feel/sound preferences. I loved both clubs. Maybe I should hop on the Trackman here at Sawgrass and see if there is a difference. (The LM @ Edwin Watts was umm...yeah....not much of a launch monitor.)

I've since swapped out the Blur TP with an Oban Devotion 7 X. I feel like it knocked spin down but can't confirm #'s wise.

Every time I see a 910D3 I wonder if I made the right choice! Haha!

I thought Taylormade was overrated until I hit the R11. Great club, but I'll wait until its $200 in a year and a half.

Go with the D3, much better club. It was longer for me and streighter.
Love the RIP shaft.

R11 was longer for me even though I wanted the all Titleist wood setup.
