Assistance wanted

Don't recall seeing any posts like this so not sure if it's allowed but I'll give it a go.

Went to get in the car last night and it was gone! Not the end of the world, these things happen. It's a company car and it's fully insured. What isn't o.k is that my golf clubs were in the trunk/boot. Discussed it with my employer and there is an allowance for personal effects so I'll get some money back.

However, the clubs that I was using are not that easy to replace. In particular, the irons and putter.

The irons were original Bridgestone J's. The set included a 1 iron and 3-PW. I spent a fortune getting them re-chromed last year so they're probably the best set around. They've also got X100's in them.

The putter is a Kevin Burns 9304 (my pride and joy). It's got a champagne finish and the hidden copper insert. You don't see too many of these but mine has a stepless shaft and I doubt there's more than one like that.

Anyone who knows me will know that I've owned and gamed these clubs on and off for well over a decade through good times and bad.

Value wise they're probably not worth a fortune but to me they're priceless. Thought it was worth posting this just in case any of you see these items pop up on an auction site, publication or in a local golf shop. Not looking for anyone to take time out of their day to do this but if you come across them, please send me a PM.

Don't normally leave them in the car mate.

I'd played golf in the morning with a client and drove back to work. All the allocated parking spaces were gone so I parked it on the street (parking is at a premium in Sydney). When I finished work, it was gone!

I assume you checked with as many towing services as you could find, just to make sure nobody towed the car?

Very nice, guy gets his clubs stolen only to be informed that someone thinks he shouldn't have left them in the car...empathy is such a wonderful thing, although a bit rare in some quarters in my opinion.

Be that as it may, given the myriad nooks and crannies the folks here uncover when it comes to searching out things for sale you can rest assured that if they surface, there'll be a posting/reply headed your way. The good news, and I say that in only the most relative of senses, is that they're unusual sticks and should stand out. If my G15 irons got ripped off they'd blend in with all the other sets for sale.

That really sucks.... you would think that the company which is covering the car would be more helpful considering you were entertaining a client for them

chances are whoever stole the car will probably take them to a Pawn shop. I would contact local pawn shops and give them a description. The thieves probably have no idea about golf clubs so I doubt they would go the ebay route.

Yes mate. The police were pretty quick on the scene and gave me all the relevant numbers.

Apparently the place it was taken from is a 'hot spot' for car theft as there are no cameras and it's relatively quiet after work hours. Only been in Australia a couple of months so wasn't to know.

Company were pretty cool mate. The car is fully insured and I will get some money back for the clubs but replacing them is a different matter.

man! that sucks... i hate thieves. They really pisse me off. God, is it so hard to realize that one thing in life that you really really need to know is that if it aint yours, dont touch it! i hope you get them back. i know the feeling of losing something that cannot be replaced. Good luck Steve

Not found the car yet and unfortunately it doesn't have any tracking device.

The police have been pretty good but the only way I'll get the clubs back via them is if they catch the person that did it and the clubs were in their house (or still in the car).

Sorry about the loss. I had my car stolen or broken into 5 times when I was in Florida and two times my clubs were stolen. Really empty feeling for sure.

Those are the exact same model but as I say, mine have new chrome and they've got X100's in them.

It's a crap feeling but I suppose it could be worse.

That's awful. Maybe they will be found with the abandoned car. As for leaving them in the car, my brother-in-law had his clubs stolen out of a locked garage that is part of his house. Bad people look for bad things to do. Good luck.

Thanks guys.

Crime will always happen so I'm not particularly angry about the car (and thankfully neither are my employers!)

I've had dozens of sets of irons over the years but those were the ones that I always put back in the bag. May sound strange but I would rather it was a brand new set of clubs that could be directly replaced.

If I don't get my J's back, I probably won't be looking at a replacement set. Wouldn't be the same.

I have neither at the moment mate. Only arrived in Australia a couple of months ago from the UK and I'm still staying in a hotel until I find an apartment.

The company car insurance does cover personal effects so I will receive some money back but as I say, the irons and the putter are irreplaceable to me.
