Mizuno JPX-800 FW Fairway Wood vs ??????
Fam,

If anyone is currenlty in the market to shop their current 3 wood for a new head. Mizuno has provided a challenge to what you expect to buy.

Made a trip to Golf Galaxy here in Malvern last night to get my irons regripped.

While waiting for Steve to finish putting some new Iomic's on my entire set. Jay Cancellmo and I were talking about FW woods and the latest hot list. He mentioned to me that he is looking forward to what the testers say about the new Mizuno JPX-800 Fairway Woods the store just recieved of which he has already hit. He had a very positive impression immediatly and said "It is a CAN'T miss club".
My own search for a new stick placed my interest elswehere and had no thoughts or expectations of the JPX-800 heads.

Mizuno JPX-800 FW Fairway Wood
Lofts: 15.0, 18.0, 21.0 (Right Hand Only)
Length 42.75" 42.25" 41.75"
Swing Weight D1-D3 D1-D3 D1-D3
Loft 15 18 21
Lie 58 58.5 59
Face Angle Square

Look: Head is a deep dark blue color with a matte finish face.
Address: Sole plate sits flat with a firm stance on the ground.
Head shape: Very pleasing and more traditional looking.
Feel: very forgiving and flush, almost buttery.
Sound: Provides generous feedback and has a crisp & slighty tingy tone.
Performance: Accuracy to burn, head squares easily, ball explodes off the face, launch and spin were very consistant.

Final thought: Overall look is boring and falls short of the flash many OEMs provide. The playability is not to be overlooked by any means however even if you do not like Mizuno. This is a must hit and the JPX-800's deserve a try when looking for a new FW. This is the cleanest and hottest Mizuno FW I have had my hands on and desepite negatives of the stock shaft, it performed effortlessly well. With the right shaft combo, the JPX-800 could be a real positive to anyones bag and game. My own choice of the next FW I play has no doubt changed and this is a FW I will highly recommend to anyone looking to make a change to the bag. I find that only the TEE is loner although less accurate. The R11 TP & the Adams F11 are top performers but the R11's feel falls short of the JPX and the F11 fails to stay with the JPX in accuracy. The Nike VR is a gamer but provides a somewhat bulky and less confident look at address and feels more harsh. The Titleist 910F is top notch in all areas and has everything the JPX has accept distance and sound.

Best of Luck

This FW is NOT traditional looking. It's a big triangle.

It is definitely traditional looking.

I mentioned this in another post, most might not know that the JPX lineup has traditionally been Japan's premium offerings. It may not look traditional by most accounts but the technology is absolutely there and it flat out performs, I can see this lineup building steam in the US based on pure performance alone...BB
